This is one of the reasons I refuse to code with AI assistance. I code efficiently with good architecture and libraries, not making an AI think for me. Writing less code is good, but thinking less about your code is bad. Thinking is basically most of the job. youtu.be/1Se2zTlXDwY?...

As a child, I felt like the world was stable and abundant, and I could not wait to study it and be part of it. As a teen, I learned my entire childhood stability was derived from capitalism and the economic exploitation of others. As an adult, I yearn to feel stable without the exploitation.

The default way we do job hunting is absolutely atrocious and dehumanizing. We can do so much better. Hiring managers should actively seek qualified people and reach out to ask them for an interview only if there's good odds you'll hire them. Do NOT just lazily post a listing and sit pretty.

So much respect for the government workers holding the line against fascism, they are heroes and they have my full support. It takes guts to stand firm against bullies.

Wait, hold up........ "Lexicon Resolution: an automated way to look up and fetch Lexicon schema definition files for a given type name (NSID)" So...what is the standard way, in practice, to resolve a Lexicon? atproto.com/specs/atp

An idea for the Atproto ecosystem: A PDS running on Storj, paid for by donations and a feed of exclusively ads, such that browsing this feed supports the PDS.

Hang on…why do you need a domain to self host a PDS? Why can’t your DID document point straight to your IP address? 🤔

>Goes to post an RFC to Rust >remembers that every RFC is scolded into oblivion by people who don't want any changes to happen at all >I fucking hate people

DEAR ICC HELP US!!!!

Just posted a new article to my blog, basically gushing over Bluesky's AT Protocol as an antidote to the social media walled gardens we've all been stuck in for the past decade-plus and how exciting the project is as both a software engineer and a proponent of the open web.

Can someone familiar with @atproto.com clarify for me whether a user in ATProto can have multiple PDSes under the same decentralized identifier? I'm trying to figure out how to architect a project with ATProto and having a disagreement over how this works. We have different ideas from the same docs.

Cultural appropriation is when a racist thinks your culture is cool enough to copy, but not enough to respect. It is not just copying another culture.

I have many regrets about Earth, but making humans in a wide range of colors, shapes, and temperaments is not one of them. Celebrate thy diversity. Love each other.

To my old middle school friend who will probably never see this: I’m sorry I played with a knife around you and proceeded to be so oblivious as to why you didn’t want to hang with me anymore. I genuinely thought you’d be entertained because you seemed to like knives. 🤦‍♂️

The CPUs of today are fairly parallelized internally, executing 8 instructions at a time in the case of ARM. But you don't have access to that parallelism directly, because the branch predictor is there driving the parallelism for you and assuming you will only give it sequential instructions.

Two software developers became quietly known in tech circles in the 2000s and were almost the reverse image of each other. Both developed web alternatives. Both developed alternatives to the current government model. The right has read Yarvin and it shows. The left has not read Marsh and it shows.

We can build a super resilient ICE spotting reporting system with ATProto. Here's how:
