Another dataset I like is from the National Atmospheric Deposition Program, which has maps of the US that show we fixed the acid rain problem by implementing stricter emission controls on power plants. nadp.slh.wisc.edu/maps-data/nt...

This is so unconscionable. Elon Musk is personally extorting Ukraine to get access to their minerals for his car batteries. Once again, Elon Musk is an existential threat to everyone on this planet. www.reuters.com/business/us-...

Congrats to Trump’s new picks for top military posts for meeting the job description. You don’t have to say yes, you know.

From United Humanists on FB

Donald Trump’s firing of military leaders — four-star General Brown and four-star Admiral Franchetti — along with top legal officers is a betrayal of legions of first rate service members who dedicate their lives to our nation’s defense. This is a growing national security risk.

BREAKING — States attorneys general lead by @newyorkstateag.bsky.social were just granted a preliminary injunction in their case against DOGE. The team cannot access Treasury Department payment systems or data while the lawsuit proceeds. Major.

President Trump’s purge at the Pentagon is a major step toward creating an officer corps personally and absolutely loyal to him, @radiofreetom.bsky.social writes. theatln.tc/3oq1fmSh

It'd be awesome if @whitehouse.senate.gov asked Attorney General Bondi if she has issued some kind of finding that foreign donations are cool now, so long as they're covered up nicely. www.emptywheel.net/2025/02/22/p...

He nails it.

A defining policy battle is about to come to a head in this country. The Republican budget will force everyone - especially Congress and the White House - to make plain whether they are prepared to harm the rest of us in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest.

Gov. Mills showed precisely the sort of integrity in the face of political pressure that the majority of the party currently lacks. More importantly, she did so extemporaneously and without hesitation from a purple state where this isn't a universally popular position. www.maine.gov/governor/mil...

Nearly five years ago, amidst earlier efforts to undermine the post office, I wrote for Artforum about art and the US postal service. Never thought the topic would be relevant again, but sadly it is: www.artforum.com/columns/mich...

Only 1 political party allows-even encourages- this behavior. Fuk them now and forever.

Something is shifting. They are still breaking things and stealing things. And they will keep trying to break and to steal. But the propaganda magic around the oligarchical coup is fading. (1/2)

🔥 NEW YORK: “The red line has been crossed. They’re not playing by the rules. We have to the gloves off.” Big ovation at an @RepPaulTonko town hall as a teacher encourages him to push back even harder, even get arrested to stop the Trump/Musk rampage. Full: www.instagram.com/reel/DGVuDVe...

🚨BREAKING: Federal Court GRANTS sweeping nationwide injunction against Trump DEI executive orders finding that they violate First and Fifth Amendments to the Constitution. A huge victory for @democracyforward.org and its clients. A stinging loss for Trump. Visit www.democracydocket.com for details.

Take time to listen to this interview with my extraordinary friend @edyong209.bsky.social. We use the word humanitarian too loosely. But Ed is truly this—one who reminds us about our inextricable connection to everyone and everything around us, with hope and outrage. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/m...

btw, i will tell you this - i have been talking to people all day, and the media is missing, whether intentionally or not, how absolutely, volcanically angry the people who have been fired are, not because they lost their jobs, but because their jobs matter, *to us*

Why did Hegseth just fire every top military branch lawyer? What did they refuse to sign off on? A Pulitzer awaits the reporters and outlet who can tell the public.

So far, my crappy Repub senators and House rep are too cowardly to face citizens, even in this 75% Trump district. Planning field trips to visit their local offices. Right now, they’re scared of Trump/Musk. We need to make them scared of US.

Federal workers launch a new site to share inside information about DOGE

WATCH: “When will you stand up to them and say that is enough?” WISCONSIN Republicans Grothman & Fitzgerald run into tough town hall crowds also 👇🏽👀

They’re super willing to gut us

Hern won 60-34 in November. www.newson6.com/story/67b7b1...

This is a shameful way to treat our fellow citizens who are public servants. This doesn’t make America great.

Defending Trump’s power grab with the “unitary executive theory” is just a fancy way of claiming the president can rule the executive branch like a monarch. This argument has no basis in history or the Constitution.

Why destroy the U.S. postal service? Here’s why: Do you know any elderly people who have zero access to the internet? No email address? I do. They rely on postal mail for information about their Social Security and Medicare obligations. Take away the mail, and they will have no information.

"Our boy can become president of the USA and we can engineer it. I will get all of Putin's team to buy in on this." -- email from Felix Sater to Michael Cohen about Donald Trump in 2015 -- HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT (2020) hidinginplainsightbook.com

I love this guy.

Todays hero

This is an amazing story. Most of the amazing has to do with his grandfather.

it is shocking the extent to which they openly sneer at morality

it would be gauche to edit my own wikipedia page but I do hope someone updates it to include the berryman nationalpress.org/award-story/...

Repost if you have tinnitus.

General Brown is a brilliant, amazing leader. I worked at the Air Staff for three years and it was known that he read everything the staff wrote for him. He believes if an analyst took the time to write it, it’s his responsibility to read it. Very few generals do this.

Good statement of Cornell's guiding principles by president Kotlikoff. "In a time when most paths to higher education were closed to women, to non-Christians, and to people of color, Cornell’s founders were determined that Cornell would open its doors to all." statements.cornell.edu/2025/2025022...

The 'find out' phase is here.
