"Empty-nest baby boomers owned 25% of large homes (those with at least three bedrooms) in Greater Boston in 2022 — compared to millennials with children owning just 12.5% of the supply." www.bostonglobe.com/2025/03/12/r...

NEW: Since rebuffing Trump's order barring transgender girls from girls’ sports, Maine has been investigated or pressured by 6 federal agencies: • Education • Justice • Agriculture • HHS • NOAA • Social Security With @bangordailynews.bsky.social

Canada has released it's "Housing Design Catalogue" which includes 50 middle-housing designs from ADUs to six-plexes. Each design is developed by local architecture & engineering teams to align with regional building codes, planning rules, climate zones, construction methods & materials. 🇨🇦

The scale of corruption being perpetrated right now is almost beyond the limits of imagination. This is just one example, almost certainly not the greatest.

Experiencing mass shootings is extremely common in 🇺🇸 7% of 10k surveyed US adults reported being on the scene where >=4 people were shot. More common in younger, black & male jamanetwork.com/journals/jam... Commentary by @meganranney.bsky.social: tip of iceberg jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

The Social Security Administration is ending a decades-long practice of allowing parents to register their newborn for a Social Security number at the hospital and instead is requiring them to do so by visiting one of the state’s eight Social Security offices.

This just in from the party of family values. Absolute pointless cruelty

I've been thinking a lot about that bumper sticker which says "everything looks like a conspiracy theory when you don't understand how anything works" and folks it's pretty obvious to me that the people in power right now have absolutely no desire to understand how anything works.

This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell. This is why lil marco was sinking into the couch. He was hoping we wouldn’t find it…so don’t RT right now this very second.

NEW: The axing of some 10,000 programs has consigned untold numbers of children and refugees to death, officials say. Documents and interviews reveal that the State Department appears to have made the cuts without the careful review it described in court. By Brett Murphy and @annamaria.bsky.social

Somewhere in rural America two best friends are struggling to start a food pantry to help families experiencing unemployment. Can we meet them instead?

Donald Trump has disgraced the United States of America in countless ways since he first entered political life ten years ago. But he had never disgraced the nation as badly as he did today. He has brought shame on this country to an extent I had never thought possible. And he has only just begun.

Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita ran an entirely fictitious campaign, promoting a version of Trump that will never exist, shamelessly fabricating lies about his agenda based on what swing voters wanted to hear. Now the people who believed the lies are suffering. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Yup. The current Dem leaders in both houses of Congress are both from the city and state whose Democrats produced the biggest concentration of double-digit redshifts in the entire country and who are notoriously incapable of electing people who aren't insane weirdos who can't govern competently.

In the last election, one candidate was proposing coercive restrictions on personal liberty and replacing free trade and free markets with heavy tariffs and authoritarian favoritism. The other was Kamala Harris. Bezos personally killed an endorsement of Harris and celebrated at Trump’s inauguration.

I understand why these stories exist but it’s important to be clear that he’s not “saving” 16 billion, he’s choosing, personally, without oversight, to wipe out 16 billion dollars of government services to veterans and the disabled and food safety etc etc

Anytime a storm is brewing, your local forecasters are getting the latest data from NOAA. As the agency faces an uncertain future, one thing's for sure: for-profit companies would struggle to replicate NOAA's weather-forecasting prowess.

Oh so FOX pays Tom Brady millions of dollars to announce the Super Bowl because he won the Super Bowl but refuses to hire Trumpet the Bloodhound to announce the Westminster Dog Show

The American Right is literally just banning words that they don't like and people are still pretending they are pro freedom of speech

Because in the United States, it’s legal to feed chicken shit to cattle. That’s why. That’s literally the reason www.telegraph.co.uk/global-healt...

It really is that simple. If Biden had announced he appointed Selena Gomez to shut down ICE, nobody would doubt that's illegal and unconstitutional. Appointing Musk to shut down USAID is no different.

We have reached new levels of madness when an unelected, non senate-confirmed private citizen is overseeing an effort to overhaul or possibly end a congresionally mandated arm of our government. This is real trouble for the separation of powers, and with it, our basic democratic institutions.

It’s a shameful day to be an American

It's actually theft of taxpayers money when websites go dark. We paid for that data

➡️ January 20: FAA director fired ➡️ January 21: Air Traffic Controller hiring frozen ➡️ January 22: Aviation Safety Advisory Committee disbanded ➡️ January 28: Buyout/retirement demand sent to existing employees ➡️ January 29: First American mid-air collision in 16 years Making America Great Again!

Four examples of Democratic messaging since yesterday. I know which one I'm supporting. And voting for.

Wall Street is betting big on continued housing scarcity. If we want homeownership to be accessible to the next generation, we need to build millions of homes for ownership in the places people want to live. www.wsj.com/real-estate/...

Take back your attention.

The take I am most certain of that gets me in the most trouble is just "The reason homes are so expensive is because there are not enough of them, so we really really really need to build more of them."

when somebody tries to build an affordable housing unit in your zip code

Norway looks like it's going to hit its goal: 100% of new cars sold in 2025 onward will be electric. In 2024, it was 88%. (Somebody should really tell them that EVs don't work in cold weather!)
