Hate to tell you this, but that's because they can use law enforcement in park ranger uniforms to harass houseless people who are increasingly living in the forest. I have received reports of this re: state parks and national forests. Park rangers are even sent to harass in the cities. Better optics

Loved the piece. Don't expect anyone to get paid for quitting. I just read It Can't Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis. Buzz Windrip ran on a promise of $5,000 a year. It never materializes. This is the same tactic. These people know they can lie because there's no enforcement, including courts
