New Haim video! Also, if the Haim sisters were the Marx Brothers, Estes would be Harpo, Alana would be Chico and Danielle would be Groucho. I will fight all of you on this.

The first shawarma I ever had came from this hole in the wall restaurant just off Whyte Ave and nothing I've had since has ever come close to it. So, of course, it shut down in a couple of years and was replaced by a taco place that has been open for 20 years despite no one I know ever eating at it.

Fun fact: One of the things we learn in Sarah Wynn-Williams Facebook memoir CARELESS PEOPLE is that Andrew Jackson is Mark Zuckerberg's unequivocal pick for greatest president of all time because "he got stuff done".

I'm trying to remember if this is the first movie where I saw Michelle Bauer topless. If it is, it's historically significant. If it was actually SORORITY BABES IN THE SLIMEBALL BOWL-O-RAMA then that movie is historically significant.

My first publisher inherited the company from his dad and once told me to my face that he could easily write a book in a couple of days if he had to. This, despite the fact that I had read his emails and knew he wrote at a 3rd grade level. That's how someone who actually worked with writers thinks.

We need a word for when after a long silence you hear a sudden burst of typing coming from your co-worker and a few seconds latter a great piece of gossip appears on your Teams/Slack.

MAGA is stymied by the fact that they want to brag loudly about every terrible thing they do but every time they do it convinces people who either weren't paying attention or were marginally sympathetic that MAGA is, in fact, composed of the kind of terrible people who'd brag about doing bad things.

This moment when the penny drops that trying to implement bathroom bans is an impossibility for the former Tory Chief Secretary Simon Clarke is delicious.

I had somehow missed this video when it came out in 2019 and it just made me burst into tears at work right now.

I doubt it's going to happen but if Poilievre were to actually lose his own seat in parliament, you will be able to hear me laughing from ever part of the world.

One thing I love about Lorde's videos/life performances is she seems to be the rare pop star who wishes she was taken LESS seriously. Right from the start her talent, intelligence and sophistication has set her apart in a way that compels her to get as naked as she can just to show she can do it.

Re: JBP’s comments about how men aren’t allowed to fall back on physical force in the face of “insane harpies.” I just want to know why, in a society of laws and rules, a university prof and registered psychiatrist thinks escalating to physical violence should be an option in ANY verbal dispute. 🤷‍♂️

Trans icon Miss Major was just denied entry on to a plane in Arkansas because her ID had an X gender marker on it.

Read that when ZZ Top was recording "Eliminator" they were inspired by Depeche Mode and it had never occurred to me to ever put those two bands together, so I put on the music video for "Sharp Dressed Man" and now that I'm listening for it, I can actually hear it.

AND new LORDE!!!!! When it comes to my faves releasing albums it's always feast or famine. (I travelled to see both her and Haim in 2022. Would do so again for both.)

New Miley album on May 30th and new Haim album on June 20th and I love the songs released for both so far. This is gonna be a good summer for my earholes.

I was talking to my 24 year-old co-worker and I made a joke about how difficult it must be to find men her age who haven't been brain-poisoned by the online manosphere and her response made it clear that I was very correct about this.

Speaking as someone who is genetically mostly British but has been very vocal about disliking my forebear's cuisine, I will say that there are few things that make me happier than a Yorkshire pudding covered in brown gravy. Basically the UK version of the American south's biscuits and gravy.

Pretty much everything Poilievre says upsets me but nothing roils my blood more than when he insists he must remove "woke ideology" from the public sector to "unite" Canadians, as if the idea that EVERYONE should be treated fairly and equally is somehow divisive and exclusionary.
