Speaking as someone who was fascinated by the mythology pushed by the PR team for this movie, I think this is a pretty apt take. That kind of aggressive meta-narrative is old hat now, but in the late 90s, we were (as a culture) cognitively unprepared.

Thoughts: - The prominent brow-ridge on the 2025 Thing makes him look more like the comic version than any of the others. - The '94 version also has an attempt at the brow-ridge! I've never seen it, but I can't imagine it emotes well.

I would NEVER condone this, but if you’ve already tried talking to family members about their politics and they are truly unreachable and you’re afraid they’re susceptible to getting scammed, then it would probably be really easy to just scam them first. Rob them blind. Shut down their internet. etc
