dismantling the global economy because it's gay & woke, replacing it with a slick-haired drunk doing push-ups & a fuckface cabbage patch doll on a worldwide disrespect tour, & declaring victory the whole time

Jesus Christ he wired an open internet line into a SCIF? That’s like leapfrogging beyond “if a regular old fed did anything close to this they’d be brought up on charges immediately” to…I don’t even know what’s beyond that. Jesus.

i hate the median voter

Agree that a nuclear Iran is unacceptable. Regime change in the country that ripped up the JCPOA is obviously necessary.

new golden age of crime

This is perfect messaging because normal people say "hey that's nice, I like unity" and insane racists say "SEE THEY'RE TRYING TO HUMILIATE THE WHITE RACE"

the whole approach has been coward shit, because these people are incapable of hitting their quotas, and they're unwilling to put themselves into any kind of real danger to meet them. that's what's driving the belligerence, they're all failing at the task they've been handed and need distractions.

The very difficult problem here is American voters don't want people to cheat on the pathway to legal immigration and naturalization that they are fully convinced exists. But they also don't like when law abiding but illegal people are treated too harshly.

The hatred for deep dish pizza I see in this country is absolutely deplorable

Hunter biden pardon got more air time

last summer the media was hyper-focused on the mental acuity of a presidential candidate and it wasn’t this one

Oh another thing is American political media is that they have permitted a key national figure to have flat earth level delusions on how international trade and tariffs without mentioning every single time

seems bad idk

The most "unifying" politician of my lifetime is Barack Obama, who tried to bring radicalizing conservatives back from the brink with his unwavering moderation in all things and his overlooking of the Bush admin's criminality. Instead, they saw a Black President and it broke their brains.

It’s incredible that now the *best case* scenario is basically Trump engaging in a humiliating climb-down, but having already inflicted permanent damage and uncertainty that never be undone.

the number of NO KINGS signs i have seen at protests with my own eyes vastly outnumbers signs about the oligarchy and i think it's contrarian horseshit to pretend that one is objectively wrong and one correct, i'm not telling ten thousand fucking people on the waterfront to make wordier signs

and then you spent the rest of the summer/fall talking about the incredible urgency of voting for Kamala Harris to stop this, right

It is absolutely fucking bonkers that Trump won more of the vote than he ever had less than half a year ago and now he is less popular than he’s ever been, all on the strength of shit he was promising loudly to do when people elected him.

How are they still whining about this shit in April 2025

"The Trump administration 'appears to be exploiting Jewish Americans’ legitimate concerns about antisemitism as pretext for undermining core pillars of American democracy, the rule of law, and the fundamental rights of free speech and academic debate.'"

Our cover this week.

chuckling as I do a mental inventory of which factions were broadly correct about Trump. you have a bunch of neocons and natsec guys, the "right wing" of DSA, the Squad, a handful of elite lib commentators, a clear minority of establishment Dem officials and operatives, and, like, 90% of normie libs

A 50% increase on the cost of goods for most Americans is still disastrous and basically ends trade between the two biggest global economies? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills watching the markets rally.

i feel very strongly that anyone who would use this doesn't actually need assistance striking out with a girl

this will never happen as long as the left flank of the dems insist that dems are never allowed to say the economy is good

Pete Hegseth being notified that we've just lost the 142nd MQ-9 over Yemen:

The Trump presidency is actually what a lot of too online people convinced themselves the Biden presidency was, in terms of the president not having any fucking clue what’s happening or where he is.

Again every time they make a change to tariffs I am required to remind you THEY COULD EXEMPT BANANAS AT ANY TIME IT WOULD TAKE FIVE SECONDS AND THEY WON’T DO IT

national ID is one of those things like birth rates where there's in theory a good conversation about how to improve society (why is Social Security our de facto national identification system it makes no fucking sense) but then 99% of people who talk about it are Evil As Fuck and i get the ick

just an amazing take. who knew that what would have fixed 2020 and 2016's efforts was more arrogance and self-regard from Bernie's campaign

it is remarkable how the GOP Fundraising in 2024 was basically just six billionaires in a trench coat

A US citizen with a learning disability who has just suffered a medical emergency asks a CBP officer for directions outside the emergency room. He ends up detained in an icebox for ten days and has the assistant secretary of DHS lying about him to the public at large. popular.info/p/us-citizen...

I think it needs to be made clear that even though they were under pressure, caving to Trump was a choice on these firms’ part. They don’t want to go out of business but nobody should forget what they consented to in order to stay in business.

the art of the deal, motherfucker [I slide the foundations of the 21st-century economic order out from under me and fall on my ass, it's not clear what kind of move I was trying to do]

the future of the FDA is that everything is illegal except for testosterone which is mandatory

A corollary to Beinart's argument in "The Crisis of the American Jewish Establishment"--that when asked to check their liberalism at the door when it comes to Israel, young Jews will check their Zionism instead--is that a lot of old Jewish liberals aren't liberals anymore.

democrats need to call this shit what it is: Weird

Trying really really hard to process this in a helpful way and not in a “the people who will be hurt the most by this had advocates who did them profoundly wrong” way and failing miserably.

man, it's just absolutely bizarre to see so many institutions tucking tail and running from trump, even as he's underwater *on every single issue, including immigration* in less than 100 days. total elite failure.

My "the financial system is currently working fine" speech has people asking a lot of questions already answered by my speech

Jesus Christ. An entire extra-legal regime for disappearing people, impossible to challenge in part because there’s just no record of it. Totalitarian stuff

i do think there's probably something to this, and i think lutnik and bessent have catastrophically misjudged the character of the congressional republican majority. they're cowards and cultists, and all but a handful of them are already wearing the bomb vests.

listen. God works in mysterious ways or whatever but it is hard to describe how spectacularly unpopular the highly conservative U.S. Council of Catholic Bishops has made itself with the rest of church leadership. the Vatican sees them as WAY too enmeshed in GOP politics and Francis legit hated them

The reason that Democrats can't compromise on the culture war is that the actual demand from conservatives is that LGBT people simply disappear from public life, which is not something that the Democratic Party is capable of actually conceding.
