Hi Bluesky! Happy to share my PhD work: Spatial information was consistently represented across tasks in a low-dimensional subspace of PFC activity, while task identity was encoded in an orthogonal subspace, providing a stable and independent representation of context. doi.org/10.1101/2025...

Cool paper — attentional errors introduce biases in working memory www.nature.com/articles/s41...

It’s happening, New Jersey! It’s time to rally for science!

Do you work on surface MRI such as HCP data? Our paper is finally out in Imaging Neuroscience, showing biases in surface fMRI. The revised ms has many new insights! TLDR: Vertices are much closer to each other in sulci, resulting in (fake) high spatial autocorrelation. (1/5)

Curious about the history of the manifold/trajectory view of neural activity. My own first exposure was Gilles Laurent's chapter in "21 Problems in Systems Neuroscience", where he cites odor trajectories in locust AL (2005). This was v inspiring as a biophysics student studying dynamical systems...

This was always going to be the outcome. Private universities with large endowments can cushion the blow, state universities without a large donor base will be left to wither. The rich get richer, everyone else is left to die. It is, at its core, simply age-old Republican politics at work.

New paper alert! Have you ever looked at single-trial fMRI activation maps? If so, you know that they are super variable. Here we show that the variability is not just noise. In fact, the same task can consistently elicit different activation patterns. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Must watch speech by neuroscientist Kailyn Price at a HHS rally protesting funding cuts to science. "Cutting indirect costs is like telling a football team to work with only the players. No lights for the field, no physical therapists for the players, no water for the showers."

Weird for Microsoft to report ‘no competing interests’ in their quantum compute paper

HOT OFF THE PRESS - Back in 2019 we started asking ourselves what could you to demonstrate where werable, OPM-MEG technology could fit into naturalistic #neuroskyence. One snag, we'd have to build the system from scratch first... Anyway its 2025, read the paper here -> doi.org/10.1162/imag...

Happening all across the country tomorrow. You can probably find an event near you here: www.mobilize.us?date=2025-02...

1/12 How do animals build an internal map? In our new paper, we tracked thousands of mouse CA1 neurons over days/weeks as they learned a VR navigation task. @nspruston.bsky.social & co-1st author @johanwinn.bsky.social Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yw_4... Paper: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

📣 Absolutely elated to announce that in 2026, I’ll be joining Rutgers-Newark as TT Assistant Professor in the Dept of Psychology! Can’t wait to join this incredible community! 🤩 I’ve got some fun projects ahead as I wrap up my postdoc, but soon I’ll start recruiting at all levels so stay tuned. 1/3

Universities in Canada are being gutted because politicians wanted to blame them for societal ills. The attack in the USA is more direct and dire. But it has been happening here too. As Canada rises to the current challenges, we should invest in Canadian innovation, invest in our Universities.

Can LLMs be used to discover interpretable models of human and animal behavior?🤔 Turns out: yes! Thrilled to share our latest preprint where we used FunSearch to automatically discover symbolic cognitive models of behavior. 1/12

"Key attributes of successful research institutes" journals.plos.org/plosbiology/... – well-written perspective on what makes research institutes successful. having a lot of resources is not sufficient, if there is no positive research culture or good governance structure.

Making my OPM-MEG preproc pipeline open-source github.com/harrisonritz... - built on MNE & osl-ephys - python port of AMM - OPM-friendly ICA GUI - flexible yaml configuration - BIDS converter 🧪🧠📈

The latent circuit model identifies low-dimensional mechanisms of task execution from heterogeneous neural responses. This approach revealed a latent inhibitory mechanism for context-dependent decisions in neural network models and prefrontal cortex 🧪🧠 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Check out our new preprint where we decode goal-directed hand movements from brain-wide intracranial recordings. See a quick summary below, or find the full preprint here: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1....

Reception for Emery Brown, recipient of the National Medal of Science. Badass. #neuroscience

🚨 Finally out! My new @annualreviews.bsky.social in Psychology paper: www.annualreviews.org/content/jour... We unpack why psych theories of generalization keep cycling from rigid rule-based models to flexible similarity-based ones, then culminating in Bayesian hybrids. Let's break it down 👉 🧵

Got a practice amp a few weeks ago to get back into playing more. Just swapped lower-gain tubes into the second preamp and it’s sounds great 😻

1. Today the NIH director issued a new directive slashing overhead rates to 15%. I want to provide some context on what that means and why it matters. grants.nih.gov/grants/guide...

Neuropixels and Optogenetics are delighted to announce the birth of Neuropixels Opto Combining high-resolution electrophysiology and optogenetics Today in bioRxiv 960 sites, 28 emitters, 2 colors By Lakunina, @karolinazsocha.bsky.social, Ladd, et al www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... (1/2)

We are very excited to announce the open release of a new 170 participant dataset: Linked MEG, TMS, multimodal 3T MRI, 7T MRI, Connectom MRI, cognitive /questionnaire data. Immense effort from a fabulous CUBRIC team. Paper by Carolyn McNabb et al: doi.org/10.1038/s415...

I'm looking for postdocs who'd like to apply for the @connectedminds.bsky.social PDFs with me and collaborators to work on the following potential projects: 1. explainable neuroAI for ANN / SNN models of motor control 2. neuromorphic robotic control 3. neurorobotic artistic performance ... /1

Great oppertunity — come join!
