… the initial run of Missing Foundation’s albums, from the self-titled 1987 debut to “Go Into Exile” in 1992, is flawless. Their Bandcamp page has some earlier and later stuff, including this weird collab with Eye (Boredoms/Hanatarash) that’s worth a listen.

a newly released short album by me and Bruno Duplant… it sounds like summertime to me…

before he fell ill, Nakahara (formerly Violent Onsen Geisha) was very productive. His music is always surprising and witty, even at its most dense and aggressive.

… I’m all out of bubble gum.

#Upcoming Japan’s outsider collective DD. Records lasted only a few frantic years. Originally released in 1985 on wax as a parting gift, “Disk Musik” has been remastered. Available via @phantomlimb.bsky.social, April 11th. phantomlimblabel.bandcamp.com/album/disk-m...

I could happily listen to Neil Campbell’s music all day long forever.

Best birthday gift ever. My wife bought me this stone pot for soups. It’s for a flat bottom, so it can go on the stovetop. Making tofu, cabbage & mushroom noodle soup on cold winter days: A++.

… I was interviewed for White Centipede Noise podcast yesterday and Oskar asked me who’s the best Boston noise band of all time. I blanked… only after the interview did it occur to me: Jessica Rylan/Can’t! Obviously! Duh. But who do YOU think is (or was) Boston’s best noise artist??

… today’s reading. I’ve tried to read this a few times before, but haven’t yet been able to get into it. Maybe today is the day!

homemade electronic ambience from Omaha, Nebraska…

Last night at Chez Stelzer… it’s not quite as good as “Sorcerer”, but it’s close. Bleak crime thriller with a car chase intended to better the famous scene at the end of “The French Connection”…

Seriously unhinged new album by Andrew Coltrane… a disorienting stew of synth blorp and mangled voices… much stranger and more uncomfortable than I’d expected. Yeah!

2021 album by my pal AMK, surprisingly melodic and clean-sounding… emphasis on loops and skipping legible phrases, not the dense atmospheric fog of “The Lonesome Echo” or harsh assault of “Redacted”. A great entry into AMK for new listeners!

I was interviewed on this cool podcast a few years ago.b

Triple disc set of (mostly) short messy noise blasts from Brazil. Originally released by Love Earth Music, now streaming directly from the artist.

… 14 minute tape of the indescribable G*Park, from 2012. He doesn’t publish much, so every one of his few releases is worth attention.

… all the gestures and rhythms of hack stand-up but with zero content. I watch this often.

A collection of obscure early 1970s DIY electronic music from Seattle. For fans of Young Scientist, K. Liemer and the no-genre tapes-and-synth weirdness non-scene from beneath the underground.

Fantastic split tape of two NL/China duos recorded on Steffan & Leilani’s summer vacation to Beijing. Must have been fun. I like this tape an awful lot. Both sides are quite different, both are excellent.

… if you follow Zeromoon on Bandcamp, you get a free download code from the label’s archive every Monday. Today’s gift is this classic of 00s laptop abstraction by an artist from Kyiv. Lovely, ringing-glass tones + digital glitch w remixes by Kotra, Scanner, Freiband, Cray etc.

Another homemade-synth cranium-melter from Hiroshi Kumakiri… this stuff is bonkers and I love it…

… composed from recordings of a hydroelectric power station. Yes please! (and also: there’s apparently an ongoing monthly series of split lathe cut singles by Cedric and Small Cruel Party, but those aren’t on Bandcamp. I’ll bet they’re real good!)

A very good entry point into Brian Grainger’s prolific world of Limestone Ziggurat massive drone monoliths.

I’ve updated the Europe/Russia artists section of my dumb Bandcamp directory thing. Go find new tunes! And remember: if you want to be listed at the site but aren’t yet, just email me. I like download codes too.

Two new Steep Gloss tapes out now! • Wolkokrots - Nelinetrolls Sadly the final collab from Ilia Belorukov & Miguel A. García after Miguel's tragic passing last month. This final work is every bit as peculiar and utterly singular as everything else they did. steepgloss.bandcamp.com/album/neline...

New volume from my duo Liminal Haze Vol 8 is released by Moonside Tapes. 4 tracks - 40 mins total. Spectral tape music, simmering stasis, restless miasma and pensive drift. A continued descent. Tape and pay what you want digital: moonsidetapes.bandcamp.com/album/volume-8

… spent two days in bed with 102 fever. Finally feel normal again. Listening to Perpets now.

Real progressives need to primary Democrats like this f’n guy.

… this isn’t happening in the way I’d expected.

the right wing plot to destroy America from inside sure is moving quickly…..

The Treasury Department right now. People are turning out against Musk and DOGE staging a takeover of the Treasury’s payment system. This crowd is big. The whole block is packed. “Lock him up,” everyone yells.

congrats, David! 🤩

fantastic tape gunk and mystery clutter

god bows to math.

recent viewing at Chez Stelzer: “Sunset Blvd”, “Hail, Ceaser!” (Coen Bros!), “The Muppet Movie” (always great!), “Guns Akimbo” (not great), “Spy” (Melissa McCarthy’s best!)…

Energetic high-velocity garbage noise… full of clunking plastic, ground hum, aggressively rewinding pop songs… a fun ride!

… he pardoned this absolute scumbag who was serving two life sentences for his dark web business, which facilitated drug sales, human trafficking and contract murder. He’s now walking free. Giving people outrage fatigue is part of the point.

… but he didn’t want to convict the fascist jackass after J6. If he did, I’m sure some of his colleagues would have joined him.

To cope with the bottomless horror of the first week of Trump’s 2nd term, I’ve been tempering my news intake with lots of Ian Dury.

America is rapidly tearing off its mask to reveal the terrifying, newly emboldened fascist kleptocracy it (barely) concealed. Here’s a pic of me w my sweet hen Spinney. She and her brother Carol are, of course, named in honor of the actor who played Big Bird on Sesame Street. Animals are good.
