Welcome good news: St Monan's Auld Kirk Enterprise has been awarded a grant of £171,000 by the Scottish Land Fund to purchase their building. This medieval church has a rich history dating back to King David 1st in the 13th century. The vaulted interior is also beautiful. 🧵1/2

Delighted to be a guest on the brilliant podcast Lost Ladies of Lit! Thanks Amy and Kim for inviting me to talk about #JulianofNorwich and #MargeryKempe and my novel FOR THY GREAT PAIN HAVE MERCY ON MY LITTLE PAIN with you! 📚 www.lostladiesoflit.com/podcast/236-...

Wendy Cope was so great at @writerscentre.bsky.social last night. She inspired my lunch today. ‘I love you. I’m glad I exist.’

Gorgeous morning at Ipswich Library spent chatting with the talented emerging poets on the Bound / Unbound programme in partnership with @writerscentre.bsky.social. In their words, a week of ‘creative generosity’ ❤️ heezed up by them! (Reminded of www.scottishpoetrylibrary.org.uk/poem/library/)

Two bits of info here. Chairing Wendy Cope tomorrow (but it’s sold out so if you’re not already coming then I’m afraid you’re not getting in!) Sadly Aladdin’s Cave on Magdalen is closing so this little stool just had to come home with me.

🧵If I could read Helen Garner all day every day, I’d regard it as a life well-lived. I revere all her writing, but it’s her non-fiction I return to most and, to distil it further, for me it’s her diaries that show her to be the absolute killer writer that she is. 1/4

Third and final LBF day! Thank you book partners and friends for all you do, and for all you do to support what we do. Thank you Pru for early coffee and custard pastry and the gift of this proof - the forthcoming Every One Still Here by Liadan Ní Chuinn. Two stories in. Glowing, luminous.
