My contribution to #BenchmarkMonday is this tidy example from my commute route, on one of the pillars at the north end of Middle Meadow Walk, #Edinburgh.

Peak time of year for galanthophiles --- these snowdrops are in my garden. They do keep going; it is several weeks since I spotted the first flower out.

Really? I have driven over worse in (A) My low-clearance Audi TT (mark 1). (B) A fatass 9-seater 2WD people-carrier full of #geophysics students.

While we are doing this, let's make sure we tag @royalsociety.org . If you are reading my posts and are at all science-y, get signing.

Well, I have dealt with a bunch of start dates: 1970-01-01 (Unix), 1993-01-01 (TAI as used in some NASA software), 1991-09-12 (UARS days, see eospso.nasa.gov/missions/upp...) 1 Jan of 4713 BC[E] (Julian date). Never ran across 1875-05-20 before.

I laughed at this one. In my head it is read out loud in @jimmcquaid.bsky.social's voice.

Today's @xkcd.com is definitely one for my Earth Sciences colleagues: xkcd.com/3051

Today I am mostly saying the word "fucking", directed at Microsoft OneDrive.

Get to it, people.

Hey, @wtscotsocial.bsky.social , you are here on @bsky.app but your parent body are leaving twitter and not showing up here (see replies to x.com/WoodlandTrus... ) I suggest that you might want to convince them that you are right and they are wrong.

The inaction of @royalsociety.org over Elon Musk's continued fellowship is becoming more and more of a disgrace. Time for anyone who agrees to sign this open letter: occamstypewriter.org/scurry/2025/...

I appear to have already signed this one. Fellow remoaners may want to do likewise.
