Pope Francis telephoned a church in Gaza nearly every night since October 2023. But the New York Times didn’t include that fact in its obituary. mondoweiss.net/2025/04/main... #Palestine #Israel

FMK: JD Vance edition.

some good news?

They had lawyers, trials, most were given pretrial release, allowed to testify in their own defense, got discovery, could call witnesses, could cross-examine witnesses, could present mitigation at sentencing, and had a right to appeal.

When I lived in a house full of queer women (called The Blue Universe) we would frequently cackle with sexual amusement when we purchased something from the store that turned out to contain the ingredient "invert syrup". Working conditions on the invert syrup production line were also discussed.

I will keep asking this. Will ANY reporter ask Karoline Leavitt at the briefing to respond to the fact that the "evidence" for this claim was produced by a cop who was subsequently suspended/indicted for serious misconduct? This is their CENTRAL PIECE OF EVIDENCE. newrepublic.com/article/1940...

you can change your name under 21 with parental permission if you’re cis, but trans folks aren’t mature enough. trans people are ~1.3% of the US, with no community wealth or institutional power. they’ll take as much from trans folks as the rest of you decide not to stand in the way of them taking.

"What do you mean it's heavy handed to have the smirking fascist doll-come-to-life kill the Pope on Easter Sunday?"

genuinely want someone to do a reported profile on nancy mace because she seems to be deteriorating in public

JD Vance isn't beating those antichrist rumors any time soon...

‘Zohran Mamdani represents the future New York’: socialist riding high in bid to be mayor

it's important this go as viral as the original story for morale purposes if nothing else. despite the image they project these people are NOT unaccountable. consequences CAN be forced. focused anger and outrage MATTERS.

Hugh is my favorite queer historian, and he illustrates why it’s all one struggle

Fantastic thread. Read and learn!

This thread is great, and also, let's not forget that the courts were prosecuting homosexuality within many people's lifetimes in the UK. It was only decriminalised 58 years ago in E&W, 45 in S, 43 in NI. The courts have upheld and prosecuted horrendous laws targeting all of us in recent history.

Great 🧵

A good thread, but it's worth emphasizing that this view of homosexuality is both recent history and western-centered and was born out of colonialism, patriarchy, and white supremacy, and othering and punishing all deviations from that "norm" is how those power structures stay in place.

Fantastic thread. And I feel less of an isolated phenomenon bc my autistic brain never got a grasp on the binary concept of gender or sex. It literally just never made sense to me. I never felt attracted to stereotypes, I find them irritating. Shallow and bland. Irrelevant.

If you read anything this weekend, make it this thread

the piece mentions that fleming hits the ball harder than any woman twice in the first few paragraphs and then waits until 2500 words in to mention that this was false.

This is, weirdly, the most purely fascist shit anyone in the administration has said so far - Your health is an asset of the fatherland - Illness is a failure or a moral failing - You have a duty to maintain your health - Healthcare is not a right, it's a finite resource - Die for the fatherland

Watching elite centrist conservatives realize they were had - and the great yawn this produced in response - makes me feel less schadenfreude and more like the beat before the next phase of the purge starts

It's point out in this thread, but I want to scream this to the people in the back that what (western modern mostly) society describes as women and men and what it means to be one or other or something else IS ALL BASED IN WHITE EUROPEAN SUPREMACIST BULLSHIT that was spread to the world like +

When I teach LGBTQ+ film classes I spend a lot of time giving students (who are usually part of the community) LGBTQ+ history because, as Hugh points out, most gay people don’t know all that much about their own history. It’s the most meaningful work I do. Excellent thread, highly suggest you read!

things that i, among multiple other trans women, have been trying to explain to cis people - and even other trans people! - for fucking ages. maybe now that someone else is saying it people will learn

um fio longo e interessante sobre como as noções de transgeneridade e homossexualidade vieram se constituindo ao longo do tempo, e por muito tempo foram a mesma coisa, porque quem criava definições era quem só queria estabelecer critérios de exclusão social.
