"Wired gained 62,500 new subscribers in the United States during the first two weeks of February alone"

The #Sun right now. Some small scattered sunspots, but none of them very active. So no #aurora to be expected. There is a coronal hole however (the dark patch in the second Solar Dynamics Observatory image from minutes ago) letting solar wind escape, which could spark high latitude aurora.

Quote-post @huubeggen.bsky.social: Wow - nice setting-moon photo choices! There are four orange pins arranged "where the ISS was at photo times" over #Mexico on map isspix.com/ISS072 for Huub's post. All four also have links to the downloadable 200-mm high-res images

Kijk eens wat mooi @waddensky.nl @leonoor.bsky.social

Setting #Moon seen from space station #ISS from over Mexico on 10 February 2025. As the Moon glides behind the atmosphere its image gets distorted by diffraction of its light rays. Original first image eol.jsc.nasa.gov/SearchPhotos... @daveatcogs.bsky.social 1/2

Ask anybody who works at JPL how well their algorithmic firing worked. Ask how many people they had to beg to come back because they’d fired everyone who knew how to operate a crucial element of a flight system.

Sad to see but not surprising. www.science.org/content/arti...

Quote-post @huubeggen.bsky.social: for this 👇 , I was waving in the upper-left! At #Kentville, #NovaScotia (near @elisabethkosters.bsky.social) on the map isspix.com/ISS072, there is an orange pin for Huub's post; it also has link to the downloadable 24-mm high-res by high-flying #DonPettit

Asteroid 2024 YR4 no longer poses a significant impact risk. ESA's latest analysis has reduced the probability of an Earth impact in 2032 to 0.001%. Planetary Defenders continue to keep watch for any other asteroids that may come too close for comfort 🛡️🔭 www.esa.int/Space_Safety...

#geology #aardwetenschappen @vuamsterdam.bsky.social

The world is becoming a terrifying place, but let’s talk nevertheless for a moment about a wonder of nature: noctilucent clouds (#nlc). They form over high geographical latitudes during midsummer. The image shows nlcs over Antarctica on 27 January 2025 seen by #Himawari9 satellite. 1/7
