Really enjoying this series. Its makers have done a fantastic job of recreating the East End in the 1880s. Super cast, but Erin Doherty in particular is mesmerically brilliant.

I remember now why this journal would publish something of this standard. retractionwatch.com/2024/01/22/s...

The guest talks about young men larping as neo-Nazis for social clout who want to have recreational sex with left-wing girls.

An attendee’s account of the ARC conference in London. More people need to understand what’s going on here. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/t...

New paper by Britain’s only remaining Professor of (anti) woke social science. A couple of highlights below. link.springer.com/content/pdf/...

We’re picking this right wing radicalisation in our focus groups with teachers across Scotland. Especially, young men. Teachers often the first to experience such shifts.

Which self-respecting liberal student or graduate will want to vote for cuts to foreign aid, cancelling green investment, standing by while unis collapse, a 4th runway, deportations theatre & curtailing of citizenship, endless bs about AI, etc., etc?

This is a sad indictment. The community of ‘libertarian’ grifters she represents has no insights, no answers, no political economy, no workable class analysis, no grasp of climate science. Only morally bankrupt culture war tropes dressed up as such.

Agree there’s a lot of ambiguity, a lot of it deliberate. One way of cutting through it is to establish how amenable people are to the idea that there’s a relationship between race & IQ. Certain guests on Triggernometry have suggested this unchallenged by their hosts.

The worldview of the far-Right, inc. white suprematist conspiracism, has been percolating up through the mainstream war on woke for a while. It’s now being legitimised by shifting blame to those who became too militant or literal, rather than people who ignored the extremism within the backlash.

Can anyone point to some good research on non-voters? The discourse that tells us good people vote for extremists b/c they’re offered no alternative, absolving them of any moral responsibility, seems to neglect huge swaths of the population that don’t vote. Is it partly disillusionment?

Really useful theoretical critique of education = upskilling that's particularly relevant to anti-social AIEd: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Expecting some memes/thought pieces on MAGAmazon acquiring creative control of Bond. Seems like a decent post-Brexit metaphor.

The whole plan was laid out in the Project 2025 document, which was so outrageous few believed it would be enacted. Fewer still seemed to know anything about it.

It’s only missing is a mention of the man whose money brings this community together. Paul Marshall who believes The Bible tells us all we need to know about human nature & is sympathetic to Great Replacement Theory. He’s therefore having his world view reflected back to him here.

Useful list here of non-elite people who are defending Western Civilisation against elites. www.arcforum.com/advisory-board

Just looking at the series of “research papers” for this conference. Includes historical analysis such as this below. This group claims it’s discriminated against in academia but not because the quality of its outputs.

Why not learn more about the fascist-adjacent conspiracy theory that informs Badenoch’s paranoid fantasies about treacherous intellectuals? podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/o...

While UK HE is in a policy-induced financial crisis, this is how someone aspiring to be our next PM describes it, as an enemy within. Echoes what Vance said about professors when quoting Nixon. Tories becoming a MAGA tribute act.

ARC, Heritage Foundation, MCC, New Cultural Forum, Net Zero Watch, Legatum, Policy Exchange, etc., etc. - all with the same roster of speakers - all with same message - fossil fuel production must continue - capital should move freely but people from certain countries shouldn't.

Don’t censor us = we want to disinform the public with impunity to further our political grift. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

It’s fantastic that, as a sociologist of technology, Alondra was given this opportunity to offer the antidote to Vance’s rhetoric.

Hope someone is keeping records of British public figures & media personalities who are celebrating the words & actions of Vance, Trump, & Musk. Because when we see the downstream consequences, they’ll be desperately deleting the receipts.

If it’s anyone who’s trying to ‘cancel’ Churchill, it’s GBNews presenters advocating for appeasement.

It’s really come to something when it’s left to George Monbiot to take the Churchillian line on despotic aggression, arguing against people who, for years, have been telling us that trans people & Black Lives Matter activists are the real threat to ‘Western Civilisation.’

Highly recommended history of pseudo intellectual right wing attacks on academia. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/o...

Why are the producers of #bbcqt presenting a campaigner for Reform as a disinterested observer?

Excellent episode of Thinking Allowed that helps explain why nation states can’t solve their problems by taxing billionaires. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/t...

It’s fascinating that Reform is able to function as a political party with no political economy. You’d think given the economic damage of Brexit it would be subject to greater scrutiny.
