So game prices haven't gone up too much over the years, and yeah development costs increase. But development costs don't depend on sales volume, and games sell a LOT more now than they did back in the N64 era. Mario Kart 64 sold about 10 Million. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold around 60 Million.
