Finally got some time to start on my Emacs config reboot project. Gonna be interesting to play around with configuration and see how I can tune it to Colemak + home row mods, as well as trying to get paredit to work for non-lisps (perhaps with tree-sitter? idk, haven't started yet) and other stuff.

Oh yes, Homer’s famous “Tes Thdpssssps.” 👍🏻

Jeg har aldri blitt spurt hvor jeg kommer fra. Aldri. Jeg heter L’Estrange. Det er nesten så man skulle tro det har noe med pigmentering å gjøre. Bare nesten

So I did a talk last Thursday -- turns out I'm capable of doing those things after all. May consider doing more of it.

I just used 30 minutes to debug an issue in a dynamically typed language, where we had written `"-1"` rather than `-1`. AMA

Decided to give a lightning talk about subtle performance pitfalls that can grind your system down to a halt, and I now realise I have to partially explain complexity theory to a bunch of business people

This is today - Bandcamp are donating their share of money to California wildfire relief. It's a good day to buy some music! They've also published the schedule for regular Bandcamp Fridays, when their share of revenue goes straight to artists. The next one of those is next month.

How to grind my gears: You write Golang instead of Go. Or you say you "run a Docker". Or say theory instead of hypothesis. (Don't worry, while it's annoying for me I don't comment on it or nitpick unless explicitly asked) In other words, my life is pretty good.

I wrote about the fifty (50) posts that Ron Jeffries has written about solving Sudoku: explaining.software/archive/the-...

PITCH: An updated version of the curse of Cassandra where she's describing things that are happening now, in front of everyone, but still isn't believed.

10 years ago this week, I started work on Tunic. The game wouldn't have been the success it was without LGBTQ+ folks, both devs and players. So, I'm matching donations to Trans Lifeline. If you can spare $5 (or more!) reply with your donation and I'll X2 it. Thank you! 💕 give.translifeline.org

Also, if the morning after pill isn't available on demand, you don't put your conference there. OK?

So apparently sqlite is slower (for my test) than Postgres when both run in memory on a local machine. Which is strange, I think.

Wow. it must feel terrible when someone takes something you made and uses it without permission or payment

i'm not saying that electric callboy releasing another banger caused the ai stock crash yesterday, but

My tiny glimmer of hope in the world is that all this AI-by-learning focus will force companies to make tons of solar/wind/water/nuclear power plants to keep up with their energy demand. And then the bubble bursts and we'll get an energy revolution because we have loads of renewable energy.

Also, it was a fuckin Nazi salute come the fuck on

Not really that surprised tbh, but to be fair, this is only one data point. www.answer.ai/posts/2025-0...

So as an attempt at seeing how "thinking" ChatGPT and friends are, I'm once again checking its capabilities to solve random comp. sci. stuff. I did this about two years ago, so I'll repeat the problems from then: x.com/hyPiRion/sta...

Duckin' Around, the cozy little duck game I'm working on. Play as a duck, do duck stuff.

Removed the last two shredded SSDs from my computer, and when I started it up, I heard a big "POP" as if something had decided to die. Things look and work fine though, so I presume it was just some plastic components I put back that were under tension, which suddenly broke free? ... I hope
