I understand... it's really difficult to build a genuine alternative, & you guys are working super hard to do that. Hats off to you & all you have, & are achieving. I am not trying to have a go, just suggesting that the wider appeal is really important to many like me. I have signed up & am hopeful!

When deciding whether to invest the time on building an audience on another platform, people will of course judge on how the platform is now and not what it might become... that is natural. It's not being negative, it's just practical.
I hope very much you succeed in what you're trying to create :)

As it's a while since Volume 1, I plan to release a small run of it to coincide with the release of Volume 2 :)

I'm also currently working on Volume 2 of Fragments - did you get a copy of Volume 1?

Thanks Lee, I think you got one of the last copies! Really appreciate that :)
In terms of Out of the Ordinary - it was published in three small volumes a few years ago, but my aim is to release one bigger book of the work, a 'best of' if you like, from the 12 years of the project. Watch this space!

It would be great to find a way to make it feel like an inclusive place for people from all backgrounds, not too much of a niche platform for photographers.
But I am not meaning to sound negative, I know you guys will be planning this for it :)

...I think most photographers want to be sharing their work with a wide audience, not just other photographers. And yet, Foto at the moment feels like a place for photographers. If I was for example an academic working in geography & place would I be drawn to Foto at the moment?

I totally hear that & I'm sure it will go from strength to strength. You guys are working really hard to create an alternative.
I suppose from my point of view I would like to see it marketed & branded as something for everyone, not just photographers....

I'm on there Andy but to be honest struggle with it. I'm not sure I need/want another platform just for photographers. Yes, I want to connect with photographers but also artists, poets, writers, organisations, magazines, galleries, conservationists, architects, publishers etc.

Aah right... so you can't print colour, just b&w? That's a good thing!

This is great Ray... can you choose between colour & b&w taking photos?
