If you ever figure out who is in a position to actually do something about all this stuff that should "never have" happened, do let us know. Perhaps someone in the Senate?

New from me: language in the House reconciliation process would gut courts' power to enforce contempt rulings. That's a threat to justice not only in the Trump disputes at hand, but also across the private economy and, crucially, in other areas where government has violated constitutional rights. /1

BREAKING: Newark Mayor Ras Baraka has been arrested at Delaney Hall by the Department of Homeland Security. Read our statement: www.aclu-nj.org/en/press-rel...

“Many clients see the deals as a weakness and, increasingly, are pulling work away from the firms that [capitulated] to the Trump administration. … Attorneys are leaving the firms that caved to Trump, hoping to get the stink of capitulation off their resumes.”

Breaking News: Newark's mayor, Ras Baraka, was arrested while he and three members of Congress from New Jersey were protesting at an immigration detention center in the city. He was taken to an ICE facility in Newark, his aides said. nyti.ms/3Z680Un

Chicago’s Mayor Brandon Johnson calls for “the immediate release of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka.” “His courage in the face of injustice reminds us all of what is at stake and how we must show up to defend the rights of all people."

Second Newark outage: “Air traffic controllers could be heard telling a FedEx plane that their screens went dark and then asking the aircraft to tell their company to put pressure on to get the problem fixed.”

Let’s be clear what happened here: Musk and DOGE broke the country’s air traffic control system. It was working perfectly fine before they came in. They fired hundreds of essential workers and now it’s fucked.

Senate Democrats unified in opposition to block the crypto-friendly bill that would have enabled Trump’s corruption. We were worried about losing some Democrats on this vote, so thank you for speaking up over the last day. Your calls definitely made a difference.

Let's say it [email protected] has to go, he is failing this moment and has consistently failed us in the past. He should step aside, but he is too selfish to do such a thing.

www.axios.com/2025/05/08/h... "It was introduced by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.)— which some Democrats cited as a factor in their party voting uniformly against it." What Democrats would have voted for this if it hadn't been introduced by MTG? I'd like to donate to their primary challenger.

If there were ever a definition that could perfectly describe an acolyte of MAGA this would have to be it, my only note would be bolding `or any sense of obligation to others` to signify how closely it borders to hate: > A person without a conscience or any sense of obligation to others

BREAKING: a source tells @thexylom.com that Atlas 14, the official peer-reviewed record of precipitation frequency estimates in the U.S., has been wiped from the @noaa.gov website. Data crucial to planning for extreme rainfall and flooding events are no longer accessible ahead of hurricane season.

During jury instructions, David Bloyed seemed quite amused when the judge repeatedly read his online handle “Schwetty Balls,” and Bloyed looked around the courtroom to find someone who shared his glee. About an hour later, he appeared stunned as the jury declared him “guilty.”

Not to be too pro technocrat, but it is astounding how much this country depended on the selflessness of like a few hundred thousand highly educated public servants who, for peanuts, made sure our food and medicine and environment etc were safe. And in return these servants were demonized.

👀” As the meeting deteriorated, a staff member moved to end it and ushered the visitors into the hallway, where she broke down crying. The staffer was comforted by the teachers who were themselves rattled by Fetterman’s behavior” Fetterman needs to resign - now. Pass it on.

Republicans in Congress want to cut health care for millions of people... to pay for more tax cuts for millionaires.

Now weeks after we were retroactively fired, they continue to send us all condescending and cruel emails. It's so upsetting and exhausting.

That’s FOUR jets lost in just six months, $240M gone! Meanwhile, airports at home are in chaos, and Americans are scared to fly. Maybe putting a Fox & Friends weekend host and an MTV reality star in charge of national defense and transportation wasn’t the MERIT we were promised

This is horrible. I don't even know what to say. Some of our most key polar data. "As a result, the level of services for affected products below will be reduced to Basic—meaning they will remain accessible but may not be actively maintained, updated, or fully supported." nsidc.org/data/user-re...

These headlines related to U.S. military aviation have all appeared in the last 11 days. There is a major problem at the Defense Department.

These Republicans are too chickenshit to answer tough questions about what’s happening in Washington, so they’re literally handcuffing and dragging their own constituents out of town halls. Fucking cowards.

NEW from @joshgerstein.bsky.social: You’ve heard of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Now meet the second man erroneously deported to El Salvador in violation of a legal settlement: Daniel Lozano-Camargo. Until now, he’d only been identified by a pseudonym in court. www.politico.com/news/2025/05...

Big news in North Carolina: A federal judge (appointed by Trump) has handed a major loss to Republican Jefferson Griffin, who's trying to overturn November's supreme court race. The judge, Richard Myers, ordered North Carolina's Board of Elections to certify Democratic Justice Allison Riggs's win.

I would like to extend a big middle finger to all of those that clutched their pearls at the idea of the Dems doing this because of the retribution. GOP just saw suckers, like they have every other time. Democratic leadership is always naievely convinced the other side is operating in good faith.

This article frames this as a win for advocates. It is absolutely not a win. It is a heist. Sam Altman used public tax subsidies to create a multi hundred billion company and is now doing a rug pull on taxpayers. www.wsj.com/tech/ai/open...

Our @friedmanadam5.bsky.social has spent months interviewing people sued by Advance Financial and combing through data. This, friends, is public service journalism and I am incredibly proud of him.

This is what the start of an economic collapse looks like. #BlameTrump

No. You need to send the President you got to jail first. We locked up 7 governors to get this one.

AOC: Tom Homan said he was going to refer me to DOJ because I’m using my free speech rights in order to advise people of their constitutional protections… to that I say: Come for me… Do I look like I care? There’s nothing illegal about it and if they want to make it illegal, they can come take me.

Just deranged. This was a *solved* problem.

This isn't hypothetical. The coming days are bringing higher prices and disrupted supply chains, this time not because of a pandemic or a war, but self-inflicted by our country's government under this president.

"Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the government can expel legal residents from the country based on 'past, current, or expected beliefs, statements, or associations that are otherwise lawful.'" Again: the SoS said that he can expel legal residents from the country for "expected beliefs"...

‘Fetterman went on to make statements that shocked people. In opposing a cease-fire, he said, “Let’s get back to killing.” A person who heard the conversation told me, “He said, ‘Kill them all.’”’

And should be reported as such. It is one of the few crimes that explicitly says the President can be charged with it. (And even though it was being litigated in the Hunter Biden case when immunity went before SCOTUS, it inexcusably did not come up.)

Trump's post is a federal crime. 26 USC § 7217.

I keep saying this... both operationally and in research, the situation is still much worse than most people seem to realize or want to accept.

“The US is treading the path followed by democracies that descended into authoritarianism and dictatorship, four former U.S. ambassadors to countries that underwent autocratic takeovers have warned.” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I think we are well past the point that if you still are willing to call yourself a Republican then that is all one need to know to know you don't have principles.

The markets know the difference.

Honestly this is just incredible content.
