Sadly, I think much of this article is true. It seems that genuine investment in the north of the UK - the 4th most regionally unequal country in the OECD ahead of only Turkey, Colombia and Hungary - is again seen as an “unaffordable luxury.” www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I’m personally in favour of new towns, done right. The list of facilities is positive. However for years, new suburbs have promised these things but not delivered. Although the image below is diagrammatic it looks just like the sort of soulless, windswept shopping arcades we’ve seen so many times.

I’m telling you again - Europe has a massive brain gain opportunity sitting here. Trump is going to absolutely shaft US science & we could & should be there to hoover up the talent.

Climate action globally is under threat. It’s hugely urgent to seize initiative from rightwing populists. We need to change tactics: start by building climate resilience in local communities where people can feel tangible benefits – we’re calling it climate popularism. @rupertread.bsky.social & me🧵
