to dust

Looking for someone to teach a New Testament course at Hamilton College in the Fall. If you anyone knows any grad students or adjunct-types in central New York, let me know.

New title to (the epistle formerly known as) Laodiceans just dropped (in a 13th century manuscript).

Anyone know anything about Madrid Royal Academy, F 186 (maybe sometimes called Codex Aemilianeus)? It's supposed to be a 10th century Bible. It's not discussed (under this name) in Houghton. And I can't find any trace of it online, except for its appearance in this 1910 catalog.

Y'all don't know how many (otherwise very detailed) manuscript catalogues ignore that there's a whole extra fricking epistle after Colossians.

This is all a good reminder that, “no help, no votes until the criminal conduct stops” is neither a big ask nor a politically perilous one.

Proofs! Coming soon to a Journal of Early Christian Studies near you.

Frog and Toad are epicurean icons.

Edinburgh is really a remarkable city. Thanks to @jacobwpeterson.bsky.social for showing us around!

As Hanukkah 🕎 begins tomorrow night, a note on a fascinating scholarly discussion. It involves the magnificent "Elephant mosaic" discovered in a late antique synagogue in Huqoq, in the Galilee. Upon discovery, many speculated that it is the earliest Jewish depiction of the events of Hanukkah. 🧵1

P22 doesn't think your new-fangled codices are all that. Bits of John 15 in a 3rd century book roll.
