Oh, to be a white cat in a sea of snowdrops 🤍🌿

According to my bee relocator, who has a thermal camera among other things, there are 60,000 to 100,000 bees living in my cavity wall. Rent free. RENT FREE! 🐝

Unexpected Koyaanisqatsi in London Bridge station this am

It turns out that seeing, and hearing, a green parakeet in the garden early on a Sunday morning is not an unusual thing (any more) in rural Worcestershire. Like muntjac deer, and children named Edmond, these were not a thing when I grew up nearby. But, they are now.

People are always like ‘no one had anxiety before modernity’ and Wikipedia pages of pre-20th century figures are always like “he was startled by the sight of an unseemly looking duck [4], whereupon he died of horror [5],[6]”

The bees in the loft think it’s spring and have woken up. They were supposed to be asleep till April. Thankfully, the humane bee relocator person is coming next week to do a recce. Honey, it’s a nightmare! 🐝🐝🐝

My nominations for the new James #Bond … Julian Clary Alan Bennett Ozzy Osbourne Michael Fabricant Brian Blessed

Ok, we need a new James Bond AND a new Archbishop of Canterbury, and pretty soon it'll be time for another new Willy Wonka and a new Doctor Who. We need to economise. They should all be amalgamated into a single new character called Archdoctor Bondwonka.

Nooooo. Not again. It’s my number one guilty pleasure. #neighbours www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...

Finally some good news. Apparently the chances of the asteroid hitting us have risen from 1 in 50 to 1 in 32 🙂😂

What happens when there's a word on the tip of your tongue? This article from Frédéric Bernard for @uk.theconversation.com reveals that there is a complicated - but fascinating - interaction between three areas of the brain: theconversation.com/what-happens... #langsky #linguistics

it seems as if every day science takes another giant leap forward

Watching Grease. Have decided, given the average age and behaviour of all involved, that it's actually taking place in an institution for middle aged people who believe they're in the film Grease.

Me to neighbour: Miserable, isn’t it? Neighbour: Yes, but at least the rain’s warmer than it was yesterday. #Manchester

I could only see squares at first and it was driving me mad. But then …..

Correction: baffle BRICK. I’m baffled.

Oh dear. It’s half term.

Reading about Edward Lear who used to introduce himself as ‘Mr Abebika kratoponoko Prizzikalo Kattefello Ablegorabalus Ableborinto phashyps’ or ‘Chakonoton the Cozovex Dossi Fossi Sini Tomentilla Coronilla Polentilla Battledore Shuttlecock Derry Dumps’.

A South African friend spent 24 hours in London last week and bumped into Jacob Rees Mogg and Nigel Farage in the street. He then went to a pub in Soho where Michael Fabricant was loudly holding court. He just asked me: ‘Are all your politicians like Rhodesian grandads?’

How am I supposed to function when the baffle board’s snapped on my log burner?

Saw this video, thought it was a nice way to start the day

Things you only see in the countryside: a road named 'Rabbit Hole' - down we go 🐇👱‍♀️🫖

Josephine has decided that she speaks “bird language” and she has chats with the birds that hang out in the hedges on the way to school. She says “I speak Swedish, English, and Bird.” 😍😍😍😍

Good to see that my marketing emails from the Meetup app are, as ever, 100% on the ball.

it's my daughter's birthday and I ordered her a monster cake from Carvel and this is the picture on the website and this is the picture of it in real life. please note: this is not a complaint. if this had been the picture on the website i would have paid more

In a sentence never before uttered by humans, I am delighted to share that an alligator stole my conservation instructor’s hat by jauntily walking into the water while wearing it 🐊

Monet set this painting ‘The Luncheon’ in the garden of his house in Argenteuil. His young son Jean is playing in the shade by the uncleared table, and the child's nanny is in the background, keeping close watch (1873, Musée d‘Orsay)

Look at these cuties. 💕 Photo from my collection, no date but the back says “Tiger and I on porch at home.”

Hi I’m Bryn, the Welsh terrier. I can get almost anything I want if I look at the Mrs like this. Right! So can I have something delicious for lunch please?

For the love of god, the overweight squirrels of North London are now eating Viennese Whirls.

Snowy barking in Basque

After a chilly day, it’s 28 degrees c in front of the fire tonight.

I thought one of the hardest German words was "Eichhörnchen". Funnily enough, the translation "Squirrel" is equally hard for Germans. Once I learned "Eichhörnchen", my father-in-law suggested I also try the Bayrisch version, "Oachkatzl". Bayrisch is German on hard mode.

Learnt today (from When a Crocodile Eats the Sun) that the Zulu word for mobile phone is ‘scream in your pocket’.

I’ll be digging up old photos to share with new viewers as well as posting new favourites. This is an all time favourite of mine while waiting for this owl to naturally emerge from its cavity, this red squirrel appeared. Neither animal was harmed and the squirrel quickly moved on. #wildlife

Walked past a Chinese takeaway today, which listed Chi Ken as one of its signature dishes. I was about to google it when I suddenly realised they’d just left out the ‘c’ between ‘Chi’ and ‘ken’. Cluck cluck.

Genuine conversation I've just overheard by two teens on the train: "It's near Southampton. You know where Southampton is?" “No.“ "Oh. It's near Butlins. Near Brighton. You know where Brighton is?" “No.“ "It's in the south." “Oh, down there.“ "Yeah it's in the south. Near France." 😐 🤣
