I still can’t understand the subset of people in the political world who lie as naturally as they breathe - but - who wear these giant crosses, constantly cite Scripture, demand that the Ten Commandments be displayed and find every opportunity possible to talk about “the Bible,” God or praying.

Trump says he gave Iran permission to bomb US airbase. Any other president would have been impeached before sunset www.washingtontimes.com/news/2025/ju...

The “messaging” in this case was “pointing out the language of the law.”

the republican two-step: 1. pass huge, regressive tax cut that explodes the deficit 2. start complaining about the deficit the second a democrat takes office, demand spending cuts, get portrayed as Serious Deficit Hawks

What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders? The US Constitution failed in 1861 and was fundamentally rewritten in 1865-1868, so focusing on the "framers" to understand the Constitution is nonsense. (Kind of obvious but it does seems like nobody actually knows this.)

Just to put it in perspective: Trump’s birthday parade drew about 8,600 people. Meanwhile, Connecticut held 30 rallies, and over 10,000 showed up in Hartford alone. Donald Trump got ratioed by Hartford, Connecticut. On his birthday.

Some thoughts about the military parade in my hometown of Washington DC today -- specifically, the route. Military parades in DC are quite rare. But when they happen, they have always begun, symbolically and geographically, at the Capitol and moved outward. 1/

You can't call immigrants lazy moochers looking for government handouts and then round them up at Home Depots where you know they are looking for work. You can't say immigrants don't follow the rules and then round them up in courthouses where they are following the rules. Get your lies straight.

Why are we celebrating traitors that fired upon US soldiers in a bid to keep people enslaved?

real contender for the defining quote of american christianity here

what people seem to believe is that there is a large number of criminal, layabout immigrants who can be easily found and deported. they support doing so snd are dismayed by the deportation of otherwise law abiding people. the problem is that the criminal group is imaginary!

Let’s talk for a moment about some of the more subtle ways that the press acts as a mouthpiece for law enforcement. Actor Jonathan Joss was shot to death on Sunday. I don’t know what happened; I wasn’t there. But his husband said a homophobic neighbor shot him as part of an explicit hate crime. /1

so gun control works is what i’m hearing

It is incredibly jarring to be in law school, be taught every day about the importance of professionalism generally and respect for judges specifically, and then see… this.

I do think some left model of masculinity is necessary at least as a guide but the promise the right is making is “we will remove the people who have usurped your rightful status from competition by taking away their rights” and it’s pretty obvious why dems can’t offer that bsky.app/profile/pbum...

it's unfathomably messed up that the president of the United States is using the power of his office to go after a single high school kid.

Remember when Republicans freaked out because Kamala Harris dared to tweet “enjoy the long weekend” on the Friday before Memorial Day? Good times.

As Republicans tossed hundreds of provisions into this budget bill and then voted it through in the wee hours of the morning, I'm remembering how they whined for years that the Affordable Care Act had been "rammed through" despite the fact that they debated it for literally an entire year
