When one side is worried about risk (Red Sox) and the other side is worried about selling too low (Crochet), a good solution is a base salary the risk adverse party can accept with incentives that pays the other party for performance. Have used this approach in biz. Seems good here.

NEW: A regional FEMA chief of staff took Elon Musk's Fork in the Road offer. He has proof of receipt. But they didn't honor it. Instead, they fired him 13 days later. Now, this retired Navy captain is speaking out. www.thebulwark.com/p/musk-doge-...

No mention of team management’s supposed discord about signing Bregman that was reported. Was Breslow really opposed to signing him? Or was that all a creation of the BS branch of the baseball media?

Feels like something they’d paint on the side of the barn in Animal Farm.

I was in the don’t sign Bregman camp but the Red Sox did. Now I have to grin and bear it.

The juice box

Too many websites that file the Red Sox, and probably other teams, publish junk complaints without much thought. Ownership is so terrible! Well, they can be but I don’t need some writer to tell me that. OTM is better than most. This piece about extending Crochet was funny.

So Arenado…seems like the Cardinals hoped to find a team to take on his contract. Astros would have but… Sox have waited. In my dreams they swap bad Ks and send Yoshida, plus $ or a prospect. Move Raffy to DH. Keep Casas. The D improves, we get a veteran RHB, and we don’t block a young player.

I probably should know better, but I’m still surprised want to toss Vaughn Grissom off the Red Sox after one year of injury. Yeah, it sucked. But he’s young, hit at every level so far, and showed flashes in Sept. Give him a real shot. Doesn’t work again then move on.

I’m not on the sign Bregman bus, or the sign any RHB at any cost bus, I don’t understand why the Red Sox haven’t signed a high leverage reliever. Estevez went for 2 years and $22mm plus a team option. Seems like a reasonable deal. Love to see an explanation other than they are being cheap.

The Red Sox have been quiet about Grissom. I suspect it’s by design. Could be Breslow is ready to move on but I doubt it. Seems more likely they want to keep the glare off the kid and give him a shot in spring training. Him playing a productive 2nd and Campbell where needed would solve problems.

Today I’ve gotten the best voicemail I may have ever received. A Mr. Jones, with the requisite drawl, wanted to know if I want to purchase a truckload of dirt. Maybe I do!
