YEAH WE ARE @katie-drummond.bsky.social

New essay is up. On strategy, wrestling and narratives. This one was many years in the making but it ended up needing a visceral reaction to what happened last week in the oval office to get it done. thenew.igorschwarzmann.com/p/dont-play-...

Bruno Ganz and Peter Falk, Berlin, 1987. By Walter Yablonsky

I have one too.

Wow.

Entered a cafe and asked if it’s okay for me to have a 30 min call from there. The proprietor looked at me intensely and asked: “Are you going to undress during the call? Because it happened before and people come with their kids here. We can’t have that.” Berlin❤️.

We lost our home and the majority of everything I cared about six years ago (because of a roofer who was an idiot, who’s been ducking legal efforts for recovery since years.) Doesn’t make me an expert on the subject, but I have some thoughts if they are helpful to anyone who just experienced this.

The post office (+ public libraries) are 🌟. We *could* think so much more capaciously + creatively about what they can be! Check out our Local Media lesson on post offices (relevant slides start @ 48): localmedia.wordsinspace.net/spring2024/p... And this recent talk is about civic institutions:

@wattenberger.com Just read your Fish Eye essay – brilliant! It hits the nerve so hard because of two things. First: I've been thinking a lot about how LLMs can help create a different relationship to physical archives, more specifically to archives of fashion houses. Your thinking helps!

This feels more like a Monocle story.

This book feels more relevant than ever now, set in an ambiguous present-future-past where Russian oligarchs and European social media marketers meet underground fashion influencers in a surreal anti-capitalist capitalist club ...

New hallmarks of hustle culture in this AI age of ours: maxing out Claude pre-flight to pick it up after.

As much as I would love to see this happen, the implications that there is an End is creating wrong expectations. I grew up through the era when everyone assumed that Microsoft was dead and will never be relevant again.

Apparently we live in the age of podcasts (they are not Wedding anyone — inside joke for the Berlin peeps here). No better time to start using Snipd. It has been my favorite podcasting app for about two years, and I'm happy to pay for it too.

TIL: Built a WebGL glitch art app. Upload images, blend layers with custom shaders, tweak effects in real-time, and export as image or 5-second clip. #buildinpublic

Can I make money curating starter packs?

A @nigelslater.bsky.social kinda weekend. Lots of cooking the winter kinda things.

There’s so much talk about the stratospheric returns that tech companies do and while this is all well and good, I find the rise of a physical product company like alo yoga even more impressive in a way? Started in 2007, now valued at 10 billion, opening up to 100 stores worldwide. Athleisure wins.

Nobody solved recommendations without the effort to talk to people quite like 4sq.

I can’t spend one day on a new social network without this guy showing up too.
