Got my increase notice yesterday!

It’s a sad day for crafters, makers, florists, artists, and party planners in LA. One of the great art supply institutions, Moskatels, is no more. Thanks to all the employees who have helped me out over the years. Best of luck finding new jobs, and to all of us finding new communities like that one.

We went all out hosting a themed tiki new year’s eve party this year—including filming a tv countdown special that played during the party! Yours truly played the host, Trader Dick Clark. Co-written, co-produced, and co-starring my good friend @kyleneal.bsky.social. Clip: youtu.be/CmwCzy-vcgY?...

Congrats to the workers union at Vallejo model paints! Glad to know the money I spend on airbrush colors makes it to the people who do the hard work.

We use @heroforgeminis.bsky.social clip ons to track initiative, and I just painted a few new ones I printed on an Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra.

I am enjoying all the spooky thrills on season 1 of The Terror, but I keep laughing whenever Christopher Fuck walks into frame. Thanks, @pizzasuplex.bsky.social. x.com/Pizza_Suplex...

More than just a charming antique for the NFR collection. It may be 40 years old, but Wrath of Khan still feels young. Congrats to my favorite movie!

Second color pass

Labor is on the rise, and so the bosses are doing everything they can to get that boot right back in the working class’ neck. That reminds me. Time to share something: I signed my first ever union card last month. CalArts is organizing under the UAW. Yes, THAT UAW.

Someday I’ll try again. Got stuck like 2 eps into season 2 15 years ago. An impossible number of things I love credit this as their biggest inspiration, but it always seems like they were inspired by the question “what if twin peaks was enjoyable and made sense?”

I love supporting a smaller ISP, but my dualband connection speed is BRUTAL. Do I bite the bullet and switch to the big guys? I swore I never would again. Maybe I should get a shovel and run my own fiber optic line down the hill from my place.

My gift idea for a Cure fan was to recreate the Boys Don't Cry video on a lamp shade, have the eyes light up red, and rotate slowly while. I started with a lamp from a thrift shop, chopped it short, modeled and 3d print the parts, then ran the motor and LEDs with an arduino. Came out pretty cool!

One of Mischief and my favorite scientific topics. www.washingtonpost.com/science/2024...

Today I built a slip ring connector with a 3d printer and a sheet of 1/8” copper. I’ll post photos tomorrow of the build.

Designing in illustrator for a laser cut christmas gift today, and realized just how much of a racket selling laser cut tchotchkes is. If you see one you want that costs more than $4, just send me a picture.

Hello! I'm thrilled to be back online again after a couple boring years. I'm hoping to post about projects I'm working on and interact with fellow writers, designers, and hobbyists. Any recommendations of feeds to follow?
