fuuuuck

turtle wow is terrific

One of the reasons we have a United States in the first place is King George III was arresting people in the 13 Colonies, shipping them abroad without a right to see a judge, and then imprisoning them after sham trials in England. The men in CECOT didn’t even get sham trials!

🚨INVESTIGATION: Trump shut down a federal price-gouging probe after large donations to his inauguration. Now some of the targets of the shuttered probe are helping corporations use Trump's tariffs to justify permanently jacking up prices on consumers. www.levernews.com/how-trump-is...

Last night was the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere's midnight ride to warn the Minutemen of approaching British troops. I want to take a moment to share an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence's grievances against King George III. Remind you of anyone?

“Government Efficiency” 🧐

i thought i'd hate this episode of the wheel of time because i was spoiled about a certain death that had been, pushed quite a bit forward from when it happened in the books, but i really liked it. i have a couple complaints, and one moe gripe about terrible lines (3000 years of oaths is incorrect)

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

A Tennessee state trooper stopped Mr. Abrego driving a van with a bunch of other people and suspected it was human trafficking. He then … let them all go and didn’t even issue a citation? And they claimed that this is a big scandal. Honestly sounds like a case of driving while Hispanic.

Jessica: Abrego Garcia's legal status was approved by the Trump administration in 2019, and every year since then, he has checked in with the departed of homeland security, and no one has said anything about him being a gang banger.

FORD HALTS SHIPMENTS OF CARS MADE IN MICHIGAN, KENTUCKY TO CHINA Ford Motor has suspended shipments to China of its F-150 Raptor, Mustang, and Bronco models built in Michigan, along with Lincoln Navigators assembled in Kentucky, due to tariffs. via WSJ:

Wow, this is the first time we've heard this number. Previous reporting suggested it was $6 million. So now it's $15 million of U.S. taxpayer dollars to imprison people in El Salvador without trial.

Waiting for Dick Cheney to post "eat the rich"

One of the people the Trump administration is about to deport is an English-speaking Venezuelan guy who says he's been here since high school, graduated, that he has a job, and says he's never done anything that should make him be deported (presumably he means no criminal record).

wtf natalie

Gov. Josh Shapiro: "I don't care if it's coming from the left or from the right. I don't care if it's coming from someone you voted for...Every single leader has a responsibility to speak and act with moral clarity and condemn this kind of violence."

There is nothing comforting about “I’m just as scared as you” coming from the legislative branch that’s supposed to keep checks and balances on the executive. While she thought it was relatable, it is actually mortifying.

This is strange. Bukele claims the guy is a terrorist. So why is he letting him out in street clothes and have a cocktail photo op? Oh right. He’s just a post liberal twitter troll like the rest of them.

Senator Van Hollen is a hero.

UPDATE…

🚨A U.S. born citizen was arrested in Florida for entering the state as an “unauthorized alien.” His mother and a community advocate showed his birth certificate during a hearing in Leon County. The judge said she had no authority to release him.

WOW. One of the Venezuelans whom Kristi Noem tried to render to El Salvador's slave prison managed to avoid removal and was able to make it to immigration court, and you'll never guess what happened: THE GOVERNMENT GAVE NO EVIDENCE OF HIS GANG MEMBERSHIP. Due process ftw

eat a book to gain its vocabulary

If a libertarian is identifying herself by hair color she might not exactly be the second coming of Hayek.

didn't take much for these guys to go from "big government is bad" to "what's the big deal if you're abducted by the government and trafficked to Mongolia"

It is wild to consider now (it was dumb then but esp now) that for most my life the big thing on the right is “we are the party of individual rights” LOL
