The guy driving behind me as we were exiting the parking garage used his turn signal every time we went around the corner. I was chuckling at the futility of it, but then I thought maybe it was his way of never forgetting to use his signal. A mnemonic, if you will. Which I fully support!

Can confirm! One of my trans friends teased me that I "collect" trans people. So I retorted that I was going to make figurines of every one. (I won't; I'm not *that* weird.) My trans friends are FAB (and funny, caring, and hot) and one of them even inspired a character I wrote. 🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵

Please alt text your images and memes and political pic posts. I have many words muted and I really, really, really am tired of trying to escape politics by coming onto my book page and getting it all over my timeline because people won't use alt text that will filter it. USE ALT TEXT OH MY GOSH.

I just learned that Lexington's own Gayl Jones was a Pulitzer finalist this year for "The Unicorn Woman." 😃

I am utterly charmed by my teenage patient (who’s fluent in English; I’m here for their mom) who responds to questions with, “Yes, sir” and “No, ma’am” without regard to the provider’s gender. It’s the cutest thing I’ll probably hear all day.

This is a really good thread.

Before I went to the movies, I did enough weeding to fill our Lenny the Lawn Hand ✋🏼 bin. Yes, I’m sore now, but what I really want to say is that Bermuda grass is THE WORST. And there’s something so satisfying about pulling a long root out of the earth.

OK, I just saw Sinners and y’all. SO GOOD.

Just a weekend reminder to please use alt text in your posted photos. I generally won't repost pix without 'em. It helps people with low vision, or bad internet connection, or who keep a list of muted words, and it's just the right thing to do.

The Lexington Writer's Room's single biggest fundraiser of the year -- Kentucky Gives Day -- is coming up on May 13. But early donations are open today! We're trying to raise $5,000 in this, our fifth year, with our big move next month! Small donations are fab: www.kygives.org/organization...

The “Poetry-Pourri” category on Jeopardy! Masters has me chuckling, because “pourri” means “rotten” in French. (And I’m well aware it’s a play on words, un jeu de mots if you will, please don’t @ me.)

Damn, I miss bookselling. Special orders are so much fun.

Bluesky friends, I have a question: Should I revive my Typepad account (yes, I'm old) or should I just start publishing on Beehiv or Ghost? (Subtext here is that I have a Substack account that I started before I knew that that platform monetized Nazis, and I haven't posted there in a long time.)
