@radiofreetom.bsky.social Tom, no one is emphasizing that by black letter law Social Security cannot increase the national debt. Its challenges are solely the result of Republican anaphylactic reaction to taxes and addiction to tax cuts for the wealthy.

The estimated 2024 Social Security funding comes to 1.5 trillion dollars. While it is 21% of the Federal budget, it is all paid for!!! FICA, interest, SS trust fund and progressive SS benefits tax are the only sources for the $1.5 T SS income!!! It cannot increase the debt!!!

I find being adopted by two Siamese brothers and a brother by different parents to be agreeable! The vet bills are another matter… They provide a calming effect during chaotic times. That and a nice cup of Earl Grey or Assam tea!
