These pieces should not be published without explicit mention of climate change. It is irresponsible journalism to glorify these completely unsustainable travel habits. Do better Irish Times!

My quest to see kingfishers helped me discover the river Dodder’s amazing diversity of wildlife

Could saunas help clean Ireland’s waterways and make us healthier? #BlueHealth #Saunas

Galway deserves a chance to breathe, but emotive arguments cannot brush away the fact a second ring road will suffocate the city in traffic irishcycle.com/2025/04/24/g...

We dream of infrastructure like this in Ireland!

More flights, more emissions. My letter to the editor in today’s Irish Times. The media continues to offer free PR to high-emission industries such as aviation. This has to stop if we are to get serious about climate action. #BanFossilAds

In June 2024, United Nations Secretary-General AntĂłnio Guterres called for a global ban on fossil fuel advertising. The media must show responsibility and stop offering such free PR. Brilliant letter by our very own @olaln.bsky.social!

This month on Climate Conversations, emergency doctors @wildmed.bsky.social and @johnnycollins.bsky.social work to resuscitate the most important patient of all—our planet—alongside the inspirational Professor Hugh Montgomery. Earth has arrived at the emergency department. There’s no time to waste.

If plants as the lungs of the planets, animals are the circulatory system. A very interesting article.

#IDEJournalClub Almost half of people in the EU back a ban on fossil fuel ads — nearly 2x more than oppose it. We are campaigning for tobacco-style rules for ads on oil, flights, cruises & cars. #FossilAdsBan

Another free ad for the fossil fuel industry, disguised as “business news.” Aer Lingus mulls direct flights to Cancún — a headline that reads like a travel brochure, not journalism. What’s the point of banning ads if the press does the advertising for them? #BanFossilAds

Such a great initiative! This is how you expand capacity while encouraging people to choose sustainable transport and adopt healthier habits. @what-if-cork.bsky.social @cyclingincork.bsky.social @irishcycle.com @irishdocsenv.bsky.social @irishcyclingcmpn.bsky.social

Tune in Monday as we tackle the greatest threat to Global Health of the Century ⚠️ Planet Earth is our patient and she is critically unwell, threatening the health of all life on earth 🌍 NCHDs Callum and Johnny begin the resuscitation and work hard to stabilise life as we know it 🫀 #ClimateCrisis

A must-read from our very own @johnnycollins.bsky.social and @olaln.bsky.social. They lay out exactly why banning fossil fuel ads, from airlines to cruise liners, isn’t just about reducing emissions, it’s about health. Let’s prioritise health all, not profit for a few polluters. #BanFossilAds

'Advertising for more fossil fuel consumption in 2025 is a symptom of a perilously short-sighted system, where short-term economic growth is valued above the health and stability of our people. We cannot have eternal economic growth on a finite planet'.

Healthcare workers around the world are seeing the health impacts of climate change. Here in Ireland, air pollution alone causes up to 1,700 premature deaths every year. Fossil fuel ads are fuelling the crisis. It’s time to ban them. #BanFossilAds

There are plenty of real issues with the Cork LUAS plan (low capacity, odd routing, & too much mixing with traffic, to name a few). A pub being demolished (with compensation!) isn’t one of them. Let’s focus on the actual problems and the many positives. My letter in today's IT.

One week to go! Join us for a brilliant evening on prioritising plant-based meals in hospitals! 🗓️ Wednesday 23rd April 🕖 7pm 📍MS Teams - links will be here/Twitter nearer the time or sign up to our mailing list via our website GHASP.org.uk 💚🌱

Just like Dublin, Galway doesn’t have a cycle network, but a few KMs of average (at best) cycle lanes.

Only 34.2km of high-quality cycle lanes in Dublin!!! Dr Callum Swift @irishdocsenv.bsky.social is absolutely right, what an embarrassment #ActiveTransport 🇮🇪

Brilliant letter by our very own Dr Callum Swift in the Irish Times this morning! #ActiveTransport

Ireland should be the first country in the world to ban fossil fuel ads.

This is madness. If we can’t even manage to build a modest cycle lane, what hope is there for cutting emissions or creating a liveable planet? Councillor Flynn is now talking about taking DCC to the European courts—over a cycle lane. We’re honestly lost for words.

Have you emailed your TD yet? 📨 Fossil fuels are driving a major health crisis—killing more people globally than smoking. It’s time Ireland became the first country to ban fossil fuel ads and sponsorship.

Thank you to @codohertynews.bsky.social and the Irish Independent for covering our ban fossil fuels ads campaign but the fact that there was an airline / fossil fuel ad in the middle of the article shows just how pervasive and ever present these ads are. Time to ban them and change the narrative!

'Every step of the fossil fuel cycle is harming our health' @irishdocsenv.bsky.social & Climate and Health Alliance ask government to get tough on fossil fuel advertising www.independent.ie/irish-news/d...

A brilliant opportunity to make school meals more sustainable as well!

Let’s fuel health, not harm #BanFossilAds

Delighted that the crew at @irishcyclingcmpn.bsky.social were signatories of this. Our emissions are reducing, but too slowly. Quicker, stronger action is needed.

A change of tack is necessary. Fossil-fuelled economy is not the only one possible. Imagine the alternative and make it a reality.

Let’s fuel health not harm #BanFossilAds

For €500 million, you could’ve built a LUAS for Cork but instead we get more cars and more congestion.

Our health is intrinsically linked to the natural world. Quite simply: no nature, no health. It’s time to change the narrative! Taking action for climate and nature is taking action for our health.

My take on Dublin Airport, the push to lift the passenger cap, and why adding solar panels doesn’t cancel out the environmental harm of aviation. It’s not sustainability. It’s greenwashing!

My thoughts on the passenger cap and solar panels at Dublin Airport Healthcare has learned from aviation to reduce harm. Now aviation must learn from healthcare. Let's put the planet’s health first.
