Ian Fleming's original James Bond novels haven't aged well. For example, Moonraker - published almost exactly 70 years ago in April 1955 - features a villain who's a super-rich industrialist and rocket-maker seeking to cause chaos because he's a secret Nazi. Such a silly idea!

HaT's first attempt in the 28mm hard plastic wargames market was sadly a failure but they've learnt a few lessons and are making a comeback. I must say the Prussian Landwehr do look really nice and size good compared to old range... www.hat72.com/current2.html

Flash Harry is about to be sacrificed to a crocodile! Can the North Somersets rescue our noble hero before he is gobbled up? Find out in this stirring tale of Indian Mutiny action using #SharpPractice #SpreadTheLard bleaseworld.blogspot.com/2025/02/shar...

Just finished Ben Macintyre's SAS Rogue Heroes book, quite different than the TV series inspired by it and I would recommend as a decent primer on the subject before going down any rabbit holes into in depth detail of things...

Hadn't realised the blog was devoid of #ForceOnForce battle reports so knocked up this one from a game played with @andycrow.bsky.social last December when we got to put some AFV's on the board... bleaseworld.blogspot.com/2025/02/forc...

Shocking news from India, currently wrapped in the flames of sepoy rebellion! Will Colonel Rough-Diamond and the Memsahib be rescued by the British relief force out of Changezimurgh or are his chips up? Find out in this #SharpPratice report! #SpreadTheLard bleaseworld.blogspot.com/2025/02/shar...

A bit of a theme seems to be developing in my recent history book purchases...

Based up a second company (one base = squad) of WWI French infantry (Irregular Miniatures) for possible 1918 'O' Group experiment (run out of bases for the third). If that doesn't work a base will become a platoon equivalent (oddly called a Section by the French in 1917-18) and use them for Élan...

Zealand in the Eighties. Danish forces fight a gallant, but ultimately futile defence of a small town in last night's #7DTTRR game against @andycrow.bsky.social's Soviet horde. Forgotten what fun 'Seven Days' is and happy the Danes took it to extra time and a seventh turn...

Tried the Escort Duty scenario from #SharpPractice last night set in the Indian Mutiny. Mutineers escorting their ill-gotten gains across the table with a small British force trying to stop them - and sadly, badly, failing... #SpreadTheLard

Running my own game at #WinterWonderLardV I wasn't really able to take any photos of the other excellent games down BIG, hopefully we'll see more through today, but what I saw looked (as we say in Bristol) GURT LUSH! #SpreadTheLard

Well I'm ready for tomorrow... #WinterWonderLardV #SpreadTheLard

Thanks to Phil & Jim for being guinea pigs for my 'Relief of Dojjibotti' #SharpPractice Mutiny game for this weekend's Winter Wonder Lard V. Seems to work well so hopefully gamers on Saturday will have some fun with the Pandies... #SpreadTheLard

We've had two last minute drop outs for WWL - so if you fancy a fun day of Lardy gaming in Bristol on Saturday (for just £12!), then get in touch with me or Steve ASAP! There might even be room at the post match curry... #SpreadTheLard

BIG day for #Panzerfäuste today, the release of the War-beasts and some rules so you can play with them... Models: bigjimprints.com Rules: www.wargamevault.com/product/5096...

@sonicsledgehammer.bsky.social's Marine Juice is certainly speeding up the painting process for my Indian Rebellion mutinous sepoys. 55 just needing flocking, 27 needing highlights and flocking, and another 27 just undercoated. They almost paint themselves!

My tub of Citadel Scorched Grass flock is almost empty. Any suggestions for something similar that has that olive green look? Most 'scorched' flocks I've seen look like they've been nuked!

As concepts for #Panzerfäuste went I must say this mix of WWI German Stosstruppen and First Age Dwarf was one of my favourites... bigjimprints.com/products/dwa...

Not sure how long @sonicsledgehammer.bsky.social has been telling us about "Marine Juice" but I bit the bullet and made a batch up yesterday. This Indian peasant is my first attempt with it, very pleased with the outcome for such minimal effort. A ton of mutineers coming up next using this...

Meet the destroyer HMS Glowworm. In April 1940 she was forced to fight the German Heavy Cruiser Admiral Hipper, ten times her size, and Hipper's destroyer escorts. Her extraordinary last stand earned her captain the first Victoria Cross of WW2. In part because THE GERMANS nominated him for one /1 🧵
