I'm increasingly impressed by conversations with LLMs. This is an exploration of irony, mockery, disrespect, and scorn, and an inquiry into where Socrates drew the line. We ultimately agreed that he was disrespectful towards poetry, but not scornful. #Philosophy #Socrates x.com/i/grok/share...

TIL that sometimes when you post a link to one of your previous posts, it doesn't provide a "link card" preview of your previous post. All readers see is the URL. Apparently, it is a timing issue. Brand new posts take a while to generate a corresponding link card. Slightly irritating.

Wait. What? @graeters.bsky.social's Skyline-Chili spiced ice cream?!? OMFG! Shut up and take my money now! www.graeters.com/skyline-ice-...

OMFG! I didn't believe Volume 2 of 'Design Rules' would ever be published! Volume 1 had a fundamental impact on my understanding of modularity. Can't wait to read Volume 2.

'The creation and curation of all things worthy: Inspiration as vital force in persons and cultures' By Todd Thrash Thrash's psychological framework of inspiration is transforming my nascent philosophy of Fruitionism. (I'm almost tempted to rename it Inspirationism!)

The evolution of inspiration: Inspired by Gods. Inspired by God. Inspired by Reason. Inspired by Imagination. Inspired by Inspiration.

Tired: Do not block the way of inquiry. Wired: Do not block the way of inspiration.

It's important to remember that Rorty's starting point was Hegel, which led him BACK to Dewey.. "For quite a while after I read Hegel, I thought that the two greatest achievements of the species to which I belonged were The Phenomenology of Spirit and Remembrance of Things Past.."

Since bsky is taking off I'm gonna repost the best thing I ever made.

Happy World Philosophy Day to those who celebrate! "By celebrating World Philosophy Day each year, on the third Thursday of November, UNESCO underlines the enduring value of philosophy for the development of human thought, for each culture and for each individual." www.unesco.org/en/days/phil...

If you miss the old multi-column UIs on Twitter (eg TweetDeck), you'll love deck.blue! I'm just starting to use it and it's wonderful.

According to ediphy.org, these are the top 10 most mentioned philosophers in the ~20th century American academic philosophy journals it tracks. Bertrand Russell seems to only one to have faded substantially.

A great tool for procrastinating! Check out edhiphy. A new way to analyze philosophical connections. It uses textual mentions of philosophers' names instead of citations to get a different sense of which philosophers were discussing which philosophers.

Hot take: It's not the destination. It's not even the journey. It's the inspiration that sparks the journey.

Which is worse: improv or philosophy? THAT is the ultimate question! (See the hover text to see what inspired this post.)

"Only within the scaffolding of these truths [utter annihilation of heat death], only on the firm foundation of unyielding despair, can the soul's habitation...be safely built." How can unyielding despair be a foundation for unyielding inspiration? I think I've found a way.
