hey, uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, wut. universe, what are you doing? phys.org/news/2023-08...

all that lives has a right to live. a right to move a right to evolve, to change, to exist differently a right to sustain our life and a responsibility to understand the consequences of our life wherever we fail in that responsibility or fail to move, it is a sign of unmet material or social needs

I love the weird little guys of self-taught American folk artist Bill Traylor. He didn’t start painting until he was 85 years old! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Traylor

The Jewish “Question.” The Negro “Problem.” The Trans “Issue.” Maybe people existing shouldn’t be a question, issue, or problem that’s up for debate. If you’re framing people’s humanity and existence as some kind of both sides debate you’re probably not a good person.

Because we thrive in communities and we seek love, acceptance, and acknowledgment from those around us, especially those we care about (which includes ourselves!), imagine what we could accomplish together if we collaborated, if we let people do what they're passionate about. 1/2

the “autistic people are naive” narrative is a combination of: 1) the fact that studies have historically been done on literal children (until recently), and children are likely to believe anything you tell them 2) white people believe anything other white people tell them

I wrote a novel & here it is from a Black bookstore in DC that you can have shipped from. I'm broke as a joke & royalties from this help. https://bookshop.org/p/books/none-but-the-righteous-chantal-james/18425800?aid=9266&ean=9781640095625&listref=lit16-b4b018f5-71bb-4e79-9329-eff329522ced

And we as a community know that. So when someone is in need, we help them. Ensure their basic needs are met. People don't have a problem with doing labor to support their communities. What they have a problem with is doing labor that they know is meaningless. Read Bullshit Jobs, it's fun book.

People who are flummoxed by folks who have "made it" standing up for the those who are still slugging away a) don't realize how thin the margin is in creative fields between those states, b) are often indicating they if they made it, they'd be pulling ladders up behind them, which is... interesting.

@aerinnight.bsky.social yoooo

Fact check: true. A lot more humans are bitten by other humans on the NYC subway every year than are bitten by sharks in the whole world. I use this stat in my talks and can always tell who has been to NYC by their faces. “Wait what that makes no sense” vs. “yeah I can see it” 🧪

re: bsky moderation failures The Internet is part of the world. We have to let it be part of the world instead of trying to wall it off. We have to *learn how* to let it be part of the world, and that learning requires an active commitment to the people who are being harmed and not being heard.

help. help. audhd, and have to make the thoughts stop. never been able to. headache so bad. meditation and physical activity don't stop the thoughts coming. distraction doesn't work. how can I turn the thoughts off.

Unrelated to ongoing Bluesky shit but Sitting here realizing how much trauma I’ve endured over the past few years, most of it specifically from transmisogynoir and ableism, and it’s just like. I really didn’t have to go through any of this? People forced me to endure it? I could’ve been fine?

Hostile Reminder that Cenk used to frequently do a "bit" on TYT where he would imply that women he didn't find attractive (because they were muscular, for instance) might be trans. Now he pretends his hostility towards trans people is "feminist". Don't buy it.
