Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, KS - an amazing university serving indigenous students from around the US - has been hit hard by federal cuts. Please consider donating via The Haskell Foundation (and please share to get the word out).

And also to so miss the point that this attack on us is about constructing norms of sex and power that will affect everyone. The positioning of “trans issues” here ranks among the worst Times offenses and that is saying a lot.

The Iowa legislature just became the first in modern history to repeal a statutory civil rights law by removing protections for gender identity first passed in 2007. They have legalized discrimination against trans people in housing, healthcare, and employment. This is a campaign of eradication.

This is where you go to tell the National Park Service to restore the word "transgender" in its entry on the Stonewall monument. (Scroll down.)

Ayodele is freaking incredible; DIARY OF A TAP DANCER was one of the coolest shows I’ve ever seen

There's a lot of language in the new sports ban EO, but I want to draw your attention to this section in particular. This is the latest piece in a growing body of evidence that this administration is seeking to control trans people's ability to enter or leave the country.

What’s happening to trans people right now is an administrative and medical genocide. GENOCIDE. Name it. And to the trans folks reading this: stay with us. Please. Your life is precious. And I will fight with and for you. Stay with us. www.assignedmedia.org/breaking-new...

Your regular reminder that the first known clinic to offer gender-affirming surgeries was … destroyed by Nazis. In 1933. (Magnus Hirschfeld’s Institut für Sexualwissenschaft.) They always come for trans people first.

transition has been mostly DIY and community-organized since forever. when you're ready, figure out what you can offer and what you need. talk in real life, use signal, get creative, don't get caught. they can't break us in a way that matters!!!! I love you.

If you're at a Southern university/institution that is closing your LGBTQ or DEI/DEIA offices please reach out to us. We are helping people preserve their department's archival history and will work with you to help ensure folks remain anonymous.

These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

There are 335 million genders in the US. 💜

I run a non-profit that directly provides resources to trans people. I have housed the unhoused in my house, fed the hungry, paid for surgeries, been the person to take care of people after surgery. We do ID documents, medical supplies, community building. We need more support than ever: sculptr.co

Read Audre Lorde, Barbara Smith, Jewelle Gomez, Pat Parker, Nikki Giovanni, and Jacqueline Woodson. Watch films by Marlon Riggs and Dee Rees. Listen to Sylvester, Bessie Smith, Luther Vandross, Big Freedia, Brittany Howard, and Janelle Monae. We've always been here. We will always be here.

Around this time every year, I share a list of ways to support Native people. From supporting Indigenous people seeking abortion care to defending Native voting rights and keeping Native families together, here are some causes worth supporting. 🧵
