I think love is the answer and hatred is not. I am deeply saddened by the last election. There should be a requirement of basic decency. I’m a blue Texan in a red Texas. That’s why I’m here. isplainasjane.com

Where are all the people who were defending the Second Amendment but have been silent about the First? Loud voices about government tyranny but now that we actually have it ….crickets.

Let’s be clear. When the President defies the Supreme Court, it is the role of Congress to remove him from office. Full stop.

Introduce articles of impeachment. Even if it won't make it to the floor. It's your duty to try, IMHO.

Criminals deserve due process because due process is literally how we determine whether someone is, *in fact*, a criminal

Sanders: He now wants to take away CBS’s license because they did a story that criticized him. Oh my word, CBS criticized him! Oh, let’s drive them out of business, how terrible… If you can’t take criticism, get out of the political process. This is a democracy

First they came for the innocent man deported to a Salvadoran gulag on an “administrative error” they falsely claim they’re powerless to reverse, flouting court orders even from the Supreme Court — and I spoke out, because I know how the damn poem ends.

I keep reminding myself that pride goes before a fall. As a sign of hope that his lawlessness is not sustainable. Hatred and revenge are always self-destructive. Unfortunately though, there has been and continues to be so much harm to others in the meantime.

The president of the United States and the president of El Salvador have conspired to kidnap a man and hold him hostage in an El Salvador prison. This criminality ignores the rule of law and thumbs its nose at a Supreme Court ruling to facilitate his return.

Donald Trump is deporting legal US residents to a foreign gulag, and he has stated publicly that he is moving on to citizens next. This is a Constitutional crisis. Will a single Republican stand up for our Constitution?

Senator Cory Booker: "The truth is that right now, our nation is in crisis. The President has inflicted harm after harm on Americans’ safety, financial stability, the foundations of our democracy, and any sense of common decency." He's spot on. This administration is a nightmare.

I have this radical lefty belief that voting should be easier than buying a gun.

Yes, this!

I bounce between hope and despair like a pinball these days.

Shameful. Unnecessary. 💔

History matters

Hats off to the very strong #HandsOff signage yesterday! Thanks for making your voices heard. 🙏

He tariffed territories entirely inhabited by penguins. That’s all you need to know about how well thought out his plans are.

He’s tanking the economy, destroying our standing in the world, depriving women and LGBTQ communities of their fundamental rights, attacking the environment, disappearing legal immigrants, gutting Veteran’s benefits and Social Security. And he’s making you pay for his golf trips while he’s at it.

It was one thing to watch my 401K collapse and to have to stock up on goods because of a global pandemic that was largely beyond our control. It's another thing to watch my 401K collapse and to have to stock up on goods because of a dumb President who incited a global trade war on purpose.

The thing that absolutely blows my mind, and pisses me the hell off, is all this world-wide angst is for the ego of ONE MAN!

Thank goodness I have no clue how he smells but, I have the same question! Congress??

The fact that everything around us is burning to the ground & some people still have no clue that they voted for the arsonist or are complicit in the arson is absolutely mind boggling. People are ok with it so long as the black woman isn’t their President 🤯. America, we have a problem!

How much untold pain and disgrace could have been avoided had a handful of GOP Senators had the guts to convict after the second impeachment? They utterly failed the test of history.

If the question is "how is this allowed?" or "how is this legal?" the answer will always be found by remembering laws aren't self executing and someone has to enforce them. Laws aren't magic, and laws by themselves prevent nothing. If a law is not enforced, it's just words on paper.

If they had read some of the books before banning them, maybe they’d have a better understanding of what tariffs really are.

Hate won the election! We are only UNITED in our current suffering! It’s sad that social issues that have nothing to do with if you have food, clothes, nor a home, divided us. The hate for groups of people allowed him to make us less safe domestically, economically, and frankly mentally.

The Emperor is as nekked as a Jay bird and the GOP keeps complimenting him on his velvet robe.

Fam, remember three years ago when Cory Booker brought tears to all of our eyes when he lifted up Ketanji Brown Jackson? “You are worthy.” That’s who he is. That’s who he’s always been. @booker.senate.gov

Senator Cory Booker 🔥 That was some Good Trouble 💙

I think we have the new leader of the Democratic Party. Thank you, Cory Booker, for your courage, perseverance, compassion, strength, and devotion to the ideals of the nation we could be.

Thank you, Senator Booker, for your unwavering strength and courage in standing up for what’s right. Your record-breaking Senate floor speech is a powerful testament to the fight for justice, democracy, and the well-being of millions.

Cory Booker as he breaks Strom Thurmond's speaking record: "I'm not here because of his speech. I'm here despite his speech. I'm here because as powerful as he was, the people are more powerful."

I’m filled with humility to be able to witness this historic moment. We are minutes away.

"I don't want a Disney vacation of our history! I don't a whitewashed history, I don't want a homogenized history. Tell me the wretched truth about America, because that speaks to our greatness" -- 20 hours into his speech, Cory Booker is spitting absolute 🔥

Tuesday's thoughts: Who knew the words of Thomas Paine would ring out as loud and true today as it did during the birth of our country 250 years ago! RISE UP!

I'm proud of Booker for fighting.

Yes! We need to make this moment count for something and demand and work for a better society together moving forward. We are not a damn corporation! We are a society of humans. And that is a good thing!

I’ve tried not to dwell on the tragic failures that could have saved us from this nightmare. But Merrick Garland’s failure to confront and hold Trump accountable is among the worst.

Are we “Great” yet?
