From the FT today: "The killings on Sunday will deepen doubts about GHF’s ability to replace the UN, which previously delivered aid to families at local distribution sites. MSF International on Saturday described the new system as “disastrous. Ineffective. Dangerous. Reckless. Dehumanising”."

Israel has just announced that it will not allow the Saudi-led delegation, including Jordan, Qatar and Turkey, to visit Ramallah

Some wise words by @etannechin.bsky.social in @haaretzcom.bsky.social: "Words like "Zionist," "Palestinian," "antisemitism," "intifada," and "genocide" are weaponized and emptied of meaning, manipulated to serve political agendas and deepen division." www.haaretz.com/opinion/2025...

This idea that formal annexationism will end the conflict forever and settle the question of Palestinian self-determination is so entrenched in both American and Israeli thinking, but in reality formal annexation will only accelerate the issue of Israeli isolation from Europe + Global South.

Highly recommended thread, both for the run-down of Olmert's op-ed and for the excellent points Marks makes following it.

Full translation & overview of Ehud Olmert's op-ed in Haaretz on Israel's war in Gaza. He doesn't quite say Israel is committing genocide as has been portrayed, but he admits to changing his views on the overall conduct of the war & the issue of war crimes www.aymennaltamimi.com/p/ehud-olmer...

A far-right Israeli slogan: Without a [new] Nakba, there will not be victory. I often teach how far-right groups frequently recognize crimes committed by the state. It is where recognition and denial merge into one front.

"Omdim BeYachad"--Standing Together, is doing the holiest of work: blocking hate with their own bodies. This is what Jewish solidarity looks like, and historically, hard to imagine anything comparable to the formation of a "Humanitarian Guard, in terms of its centrality. Some braves folks out there.

In Gaza, hospitals have collapsed. Babies ran out of formula. Clean drinking water is gone. Meanwhile, trucks filled with aid are waiting idle by the border. Instead of trying to do a Gaza real estate deal, Trump should press the Netanyahu government to open aid routes & stop starving Palestinians.

I finally gave up on getting my Twitter/X account back after it was hacked and hijacked in February, with a crypto dude taking my 70,000 followers. In any case, I am there for those who go back and forth, my new account there is: @LouisAFishman1

OK, this is wild. In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them. It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*. What the HELL? 1/

Per Amberin's sources, the offer from the government is 50,000 political prisoners released, including Demirtaş, improved living conditions for Öcalan, and de facto acceptance for the autonomy of Syria's Kurdish regions. Potentially huge win for PKK and DEM, but what about ordinary Turkish Kurds?

Sırrı Süreyya Önder, one of the most interesting political figures of Turkey’s political opposition, especially of the post-Gezi period, has passed away. He played a crucial role in building bridges between Kurdish-centered left wing parties and the political mainstream.

Congratulations, Canada. You looked at the dog's breakfast we're making of American democracy, heard our president's unprecedented threats to your economy & sovereignty, & said "we want zero part of this nightmare." Hoping that Carney leads you well through this storm. ❤️🇨🇦❤️

It was never just about schools, it was never just about libraries, and it isn't actually about the books. It's about finding a way to banish entire people, entire ideas, out of society, back into the closet or worse. www.chron.com/politics/art...

ICE can enter anyone’s home, and abduct and deport them to a foreign prison indefinitely because the DOJ says they can ignore the 4th, 5th and 15th amendments. If there’s no due process or protections against illegal search and seizures, none of us are safe.

Özgür Özel'in söylediği doğru.

Turkish media is reporting that Ankara plans to “gift” the S-400 missile systems it bought from Russia for $2.5 billion to the Syrian government. Those S-400s cost Turkey far more: expulsion from the F-35 program, lost defense contracts, CAATSA sanctions, and deeply strained ties with NATO allies.++

Actually they excluded non-property owners, slaves, and I imagine native Americans from voting for how many years? You can do the math. Thus, maybe think twice about going back to the “founding fathers” for wisdom.

Turkey's state-run child labour program sees teenagers working up to 12 hours/day for as low as 30% the minimum wage. One-quarter of 15-17-year-olds work in Turkey. One of the many ways Turkey's youth live incredibly vulnerable and precarious lives.
