(He/Him) I’m a big fan of video games, video game history, and anime. Currently spending my spare time working on trying to find all of the digital pinball games released for consoles and handhelds. And playing Wacca. I love Wacca.

And finally, a long-awaited patron request, we have two pinball-themed developer interviews: from KAZe (the developer of several digital pinball titles on the Saturn/SFC) and Satoshi Matsuoka, the HAL Laboratory programmer who created the original Famicom Pinball. shmuplations.com/pinball/

"...a fantastic game of pinball on a table made of alien offal and bones" kimimithegameeatingshemonster.com/2024/11/01/a...

Random game and silver ball Saturday! I've missed doing this. This week's game is The Powerpuff Girls Him and Seek for the GBA. How is this related to silver ball? It has a full pinball minigame in it! It took a few plays to get a feel for the physics but it's a full pinball table and pretty fun.

Haven't done a #bandcamp discount or #BandcampFrday in a bit. Here's a discount off #PrettyEightMachine, my #NineInchNails tribute, on #vinyl. If you're into #NIN and #chiptune, you'll dig it. I want them to find good homes; proceeds go to my moving fund. Use code V8M2025 at prettyeightmachine.com

Random Game Saturday! Dragon Fist Karate Fighter from Excalibur. LCD with DMD at the bottom! Flashing lights! Vibration motor! Two player w/ wired controllers! Realistic voices and sound effects! Generic ass fighter! Punch, kick, it's all in your mind. And now, your hands! I unironically love this

As the forces of hatred are on the march, my promise is this: Our trans neighbors will continue to be safe, protected, and welcome in Minnesota.

Now the whole country gets the experience of what it's like when private equity buys the place you work

Frankly incredible how this image has not been wrong ever in my lifetime

For the past 20 years, this has been my go-to for the first time people come to visit for gaming. It’s usually met with a groan but quickly turns into genuine laughter and everyone has fun with it. The Wacky World of Miniature Golf being a great game will always be the hill I’m willing to die on.

It's hard to know what to say or whether it's even worth adding to the doom - what I will say is buy your trans friends' weird zine, their album, their art game - buy them a beer or a soda or a meal - give them some ko-fi money for doing absolutely nothing. We gotta protect trans kids and adults.

Laser Lords (1992) for the Philips CD-i is an obscure and bizarre adventure from Spinnaker with roots in an earlier RPG project. You are whisked to space in a classic car to stop the evil Sarpedon from conquering the Void if he completes his Voidal Implosion Engine! (a claymation thread)

When the fear and loathing kicks in I self-medicate

Time to share this quick air filter solution for wildfire smoke once again. All you need is a box fan and a home air/furnace filter that you can get at pretty much any hardware store. Optional is some duct tape to get a good seal. Stay safe! #LAFires

Tech has got to stop trying to be cool and get back to this level of whimsy, I'm not even kidding

It’s important we tell our own stories if no one else does. Here is my memory of the Unisys ICON and some ICON games, a computer that only Xennials from Ontario would have used. They were almost all destroyed and no archives or emulators exist. True lost media. postgamecontent.com/post/7717260...

I was lucky enough to attend the Save the Games symposium at the Strong this past summer, and one of my biggest takeaways was how varied the experience of gaming has been across cultures. People from China, Panama, and Puerto Rico all shared their experiences with me, and they are *fascinating*!

ahhhh i wish i still had the space and tools to make my own arcade sticks....here's a dreamcast stick i made once, just for playing Cosmic Smash

I’m glad this is making the rounds. This is an excellent read and I highly recommend that everyone interested in gaming history take a few minutes to read this and reflect. I have some thoughts that I’ve been trying to organize this morning so I’m making a thread that I’ll update periodically.

Here we go, something I've been drafting for a long, long time: how the US-centric approach to video games and their history / culture basically gaslights us who come from other realities: felipepepe.medium.com/the-gentrifi... AKA, why LAN Houses, PokéTibia & Bomba Patch rule.

A DUI costs around $10,000.00 A funeral costs around $15,000.00 A Lyft/Uber will cost you about $50.00 Please don't drive drunk tonight. Get home safely and allow everyone else to do the same. People will die or be permanently disabled tonight. Don't be the reason why.

As 2024 is coming to a close, I’m reflecting on my current mindset for trying to methodically categorize digital pinball games to filter out titles that aren’t flipper pinball.

Bringing it to 🦋 by request: People hate their own art because it looks like they made it. They think if they get better, it will stop looking like they made it. A better person made it. But there's no level of skill beyond which you stop being you. You hate the most valuable thing about your art.

My immediate thought was FFVII Remake and Rebirth if they restored the menu-based battle system. Going back further to what is probably the true spirit of the question, I’d have to say Card Fighters DS if they added colorblind accessibility. I love the series but that was a wall I couldn’t cross.
