Good story from Cape Breton. Well done.

Seems to apply everywhere.

On balance, I was more comfortable with Fox employees lying about wars than running them.

This is what 24/7 TV news created.

What America needs is a “cease-liar.”

Good thread.

“Canada miraculously avoided voting in a government and a Conservative leader that worshipped mimicked adopted Trump values…but if your watching what’s happening in the House of Commons closely, you’ll see the DNA of Trump everywhere…” #cdnpoli

The US Constitution gives lawmakers the power to declare war and authorise military activity. But Trump did not seek the approval of Congress before striking Iran. aje.io/819lk2

Bombing Iran. What morons.

So sad.

It's a shame that they play for video clips instead of trying to work for the country. Allowing TV cameras in QP was a big mistake.

Wow!

A reminder to reporters, when historians look back on this moment with the president throwing himself a military parade and the people throwing No Kings rallies across America, the media sources raving about the former and sneering at the latter are going to be quoted by name. This is your legacy!

Could we please stop speculating about an independent Alberta. It's a really bad idea. But so was Brexit - and look what happened. theconversation.com/what-if-albe...

Tragic.

Banff's elected member of the Alberta Legislature has some strong - and, hopefully, effective - words about coal mining on the Eastern Slopes. Albertans need to speak up and the government needs to listen.

I keep saying, "It makes no sense." But I then wonder why I expect it to make sense.

Wow! It's one thing to edit CP copy for length. But to edit for perspective is not OK. The NP has always been bad, but some people take it seriously. Concentration of ownership and foreign ownership are wrecking Canadian news media.

Ugh!

“The distance between what is said, and what is known to be true, has become an abyss…The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped from our hands - we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest.”

I am reading and hearing the word "unprecedented" to an alarming degree. Journalists are using it to avoid "unlawful," "ridiculous" and "bat shit crazy."

🧵 I’ve talked a lot about disordered discourse, conspiracies, polarisation, denialism. But maybe the better question is: why does this keep happening? Why does our shared reality keep fracturing? What are the drivers I talk about as a dimension of disordered discourse?

Key advice here is think and plan now, while you're calm, because clear thinking is difficult when you're in chaos.

Your semi-regular reminder to check the sources of things you post. We have enough sites spewing disinformation. Let's keep this one sort of reliable.

I'd like to stop hearing and seeing the phrase "this is not who we are" about things that constantly happen. Maybe try "this is not who we should be".
