Boy's day

No one thought about Kavin and Even Bacon before this episode 😁

Is the React Native + Expo stack popular in Germany? From what I see in the job market in my country, there is more demand for Flutter and Java/Kotlin mobile developers. Even React Native developers are needed, but usually without Expo.

Thank you very much for this tutorial🩵

Looks amazing

Oh, it's the best 😁

2025 in a nutshell…

I'm still thinking what better to take for React Native development as the first Mac in my life: - Mac Mini M4 16/256 (and use it with keyboard, mouse and monitor that I already use for Windows) - or MacBook Air 13 M1 8/256 (and use my iPad 9 as the second screen). Mac users, what can you advice?

It's insane 🤯

Is Mac Mini M4 16/256 GB good enough tool for building apps for any platform on React Native? www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac...

Indeed

What a year! Bluesky opened its doors just last February. Since then, we opened federation, launched video, rolled out trending topics, and a whole lot more. Happy New Year, and here’s to a great year ahead! 🎉

@cs50.bsky.social I would like to ask, is it okay if I use your course CS50M as a base for my React Native course on stepik.org? I love your course, but I know that it was deprecated. I have an idea to rewrite your course in Russian with modern codebase (with TypeScript, Expo 52 and React Native 76)

And my Duolingo account. I proud how I spent this year🦉

Before and After I changed visibility from private to public in the most used repositories git-wrapped.com

I use VS Code without plagins, when I study and Cursor, when write something for myself. Also I use NotePad++ if I need to check a file quickly and Sublime Text for txt and md files. I like design of Windsurf, but it doesn't work in my country anymore. And Borland still has a place in my heart 💙

Thinking about writing a TV app? This article by Anisha Malde and Karol Latusek will be a great starting point 💪 dev.to/amazonappdev...

Yeah, I also hope one day RN will use jsr or something like that. But even now it has faster build time than some other cross platform solutions like Tauri, for example.

Yes, but you're talking about dev build. Production build doesn't weight so much.

Don't miss understand me. I love React Native, but would like RNW was as simple as Tauri. Maybe it's just my experience.

This week tested tools for a simple desktop app for my non-tech-savvy colleagues to copy files: Electron: Works but bloated (250 MB). Neutralinojs: Unstable, dev abandoned it. Tauri: Slow setup, but 2.5 MB output, no Rust needed. React Native Windows: Too complex. Final choice? Python. Simple wins.

At least somewhere I was good enough this year

It's done. Now it’s your turn, Oracle. We’ve submitted a formal petition to cancel the JavaScript trademark: it is generic, Oracle has abandoned it, and Oracle committed fraud on the USPTO during the last trademark renewal. It's time to #FreeJavaScript. deno.com/blog/deno-v-...

I'm so used to using PWA, that I mentioned that BlueSky has mobile app only today. It's funny that PWA and native app have reversed icon's colors.

cool thing

Currently I study RN, node.js and Deno, and think I would be great also to learn Next.JS and Electron, But after inspiring videos like this one I think I need to learn RN deeper and it's all want I really need to make great apps for any platform. I watch (mostly listen) you everyday. Thank you Theo
