“A Financial Times analysis of more than 350,000 posts on X related to the election, gathered since the snap poll was announced in March, revealed a network of co-ordinated accounts pushing content to boost Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre and tarnish his counterpart, the Liberal’s Mark Carney.”

Note how much of what Trump is trying to destroy, from Radio Free Europe to transatlantic trade, is precisely what the Russians most want him to destroy www.nytimes.com/2025/04/26/u...

English academic giving talk in Japan in 80s. Spoke for 15 mins. Translator 1 min. Then same thing. And once more with applause. Bemused he asked a Japanese friend what the translator had said. “It’s about the rule of law but nothing new.” “Nothing new. Still’ “Still nothing. Please clap.”

Ukraine has exposed Trump’s true identity: as a vandal, an autocrat, a gangster and a fool | Jonathan Freedland

It is difficult to express how profoundly troubling this is. The Trump Administration’s attack on the scientific/medical research apparatus and the basic norms of science will directly harm to the health of Americans. I’m glad NEJM isn’t standing for it. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/25/h...

Harvard scientist Kseniia Petrova has been in ICE custody for about two months. Her colleague and friend Leon Peshkin says her case is causing some scientists to reconsider working in the U.S.

Previously people in the position to influence medical research funding often encouraged research into conditions they personally fear, such as cancer and dementia. I sometimes wondered if this distorted research priorities but I so much prefer it to what’s happening in the US right now.

The Ukrainian pysanka, inscribed on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage, isn’t just folk art—it’s a real-world magical artifact. Like something out of your favorite RPG, but woven into reality. #UkraineBriefly (1/12)

The White House has turned COVID.gov from a public health resource into a politically charged platform promoting the lab-leak theory and attacking specific scientists and the pandemic response in general. Let’s fact check its 5 headline claims… 🧵

OpenAI’s so-called “reasoning” models generate more falsehoods than their predecessors. Since #LLMs are model language usage and not factual information, it’s built-into their design that they will output false or misleading information. #PhilAI techcrunch.com/2025/04/18/o...

Dios mio! Wall Street is full of what now?

Put aside the lies and the open defiance of the Supreme Court, as well as the cruelty, and ask yourself: who talks like this? This is the *official* account of the *White House* - is it being run by a six year old?

The same missile Russia parades on May 9 was used to kill 9 children in Kryvyi Rih.

In Kharkiv, the number of injured from the Russian strike has risen to 112—including 8 children. Civilian homes, lives, and futures torn apart once again by Russia’s terror.

🧵 THREAD: A federal whistleblower just dropped one of the most disturbing cybersecurity disclosures I’ve ever read. He's saying DOGE came in, data went out, and Russians started attempting logins with new valid DOGE passwords Media's coverage wasn't detailed enough so I dug into his testimony:

the ERC has added a million euro for researchers moving to Europe.

⚡️‘This is a murder’ – Zelensky rebukes Trump for calling deadly Sumy strike a mistake. “Excuse me, but this is a murder. This strike went to the (city) center, it did not go to the front line,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Another act of Russian terror: an air bomb was dropped on a residential building in Kupyansk. A 72-year-old woman was injured. At least 10 more apartment buildings were damaged in the blast. Russia keeps targeting civilians. This is not war—it’s terrorism.

The Trump administration has threatened to take away Harvard University’s ability to enroll international students.

Call it what it is: a race/ gender purge.
