Looking very much forward to this evening.

The new Willie Lane LP is a corker. feat. Ryan Jewell on drums and Sunburned Rob Thomas on bass.

Gene’s been hanging over our kitchen table for two decades now.

Destino Scifosi, the brand new France LP is probably a bit too fresh and obscure to make it into @andrewmale.bsky.social MOJO drone top 10, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t quite a monster.

Glad that Cindy Lee’s Diamond Jubilee is finally out on vinyl. Sounds positively rad compared to the DL I’ve been enjoying so far. I hear a lot of Green/Kirwan era Fleetwood Mac guitar interplay. There is no higher praise when it comes to guitar stylings in my book.

Check it out! Great show start to finish.

I couldn’t say no to this rock solid mono original at Stereo Jacks.

All-timer!

Two 7 footers going at it with amazing post moves. Left, right, left, right. Love the glee and fist at the end. youtube.com/shorts/YEi8o...

Can’t go wrong with this old friend.

Bob Dylan in a colorful coat. He also wears it on the cover of his album Desire. He once received the coat as a gift from actor director Dennis Hopper, who wore it during the filming of The Last Movie (1971).

Sad to hear about the passing of Mike Ratledge. Known for playing a Lowry organ just like Garth Hudson.

This Kelby Clark LP is indeed a total winner. Clark’s banjo playing reminds me of the ferocious koto music you hear in some of the Kurosawa movies. Thanks to @thetrailhead.bsky.social for the plug.

If your in the market for free jazz, Stereo Jacks is the place to be this week. OG Saturn Sun Ra on the wall signed by Ra, Allen, Patrick and Gilmore.

Perhaps you want to add this one. The earthquake song to end all earthquake songs, ending with a real earthquake. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgId...

Made us a batch of Sambal Brandal. I cheated and used Sambal Oelek (basic Indonesian red pepper paste) to avoid the dangerous activity of having to clean and cut up a bunch of hot peppers. It started with grating and cooking down these two giant onions.

What would Gil Scott-Heron do if he was alive today? Mandate, my ass. The long coda of “B-Movie” is one the funkiest pieces of music ever recorded. I could listen to a loop of just that all day long.

Nothing compares to stepping into the world of John Jacob Niles.

Great to see that a release date for Craig Robertson’s Chris Knox biography has been set.

Setting up the mikes and pressing “record” during the Basement Tapes sessions alone cements Garth’s legacy in rock history, but of course there’s tons and tons more.

GREAT article for anyone interested in Dylan, Beatles and the beats. My question is when are we going to see a release of the Myddle Class comp in Aronowitz’s archives. The Myddle Class remains one of the great unsung bands of the 60s. www.njarts.net/al-aronowitz...

❤️Always a great listen❤️

I’ve been playing this 5CD Basho live set a lot. The previous Lost Master set is already going for painful money, so if at all interested you may want make a move.

Meet the ingredients for a killer Japanese inspired salad dressing. Also made a batch of pickled onions.

Geeta, the final episode of Charles Lloyd’s wilderness years. A sweet mix of global ambient, flute and guitar skronk.

Jules Reidy may very well be my artist of the year. Besides these two there was also the DL only, Rave Angels, plus 2024 was bookended by Traces and the soon to be released Ghost Spirit on @thrilljockey.bsky.social

Decided to pull some Neil Innes after reading a great article on him in @mojomagazine.bsky.social Idiot is fantastic and has some of the wildest Ollie Halsall guitar playing this side of Patto.

Of the four versions of “Police Car” (Stiff 45, Live Stiff, 2023 remix) this 8 minute version with Verlaine/Lloyd-like guitar solos is currently my favorite. youtube.com/watch?v=b8os...

These are some of the reissues and archival recordings that I dug in 2024.

Here are some of my favorite releases of the year. Typically I have about 80% overlap with the always super comprehensive @aquariumdrunkard.com list, but for some reason that is not the case this year.

Brother John Terlesky keeps kicking out great albums.

Great band that played their final gigs in 2024. Bare Bone Nest is probably their best.

Happy Birthday Michael Hurley! Seen here goofin' with Smokey the Bear and my sweetie earlier this year.

Cheap heat. 70s Eddie Harris albums are so much fun.
