All legislatures should have an odd number of members, and either the presiding officer should be allowed to vote with the rest of them, or they shouldn't be one of those members (i.e. you give up your ordinary seat when you become presiding officer)

Thinking about the time I aced the first physics test of the school year, and no-one else got more than a mere pass at best, and the teacher said that people need to study for tests. He asked how much study I did, and I said none.

The purpose of automation should be to get rid of repetitive, dull tasks, so that we can spend more time as creative problem-solvers and less as computers. AI -- as promised to us -- does the underlying creative work, and leaves us to do the boring part (validating that its output is valid).

My super-contrarian opinion is that, if they'd actually designed it right, the Electoral College would be a great system. It would have to be a *strictly* deliberative body that meets in one place and is empowered to make its own decision, not rubber-stamp the winner of a pseudo-national election
