Back here for tonight's rehearsal for the annual Darkness Into Light services that take place this weekend. For about the 20th year running I'm honoured to have a very small part to play in them.

Think my (hopefully fictitious) early-onset Alzheimer's is getting worse. Started my weekly shopping list y'day, went to add to it this morning. I'd written "carpet". I have no idea why. I don't need a new one and I don't need one cleaned. After much thought, realised I meant to write "capers" 🤦

6/7 tiles on my roof need refitting/nudging back into place. Local roofer quoted £1200 for one day & would use a ladder. I've just hired a scaffolding tower for a week for £170 and plan to do it myself with a very competent engineer friend. Anything we should know?

Had forgotten how much I loathe Twitter. Asked a perfectly innocent question on a post from someone I interact with (mutual followers). 20 "likes" with 2 hours. 18 *obvious* porn/bot accounts (other 2 can't prove it but looks like they are). All blocked. Comment deleted. Twitter's becoming unusable.

*Checks weather forecast, sees rain will stop by midday & wind will drop. Plans to finish my log-store after lunch* 3pm: No rain, light breeze. Goes outside with tools & rainproof mesh. Starts working. 3.10pm: Sudden rainstorm out of nowhere. High winds tear fabric. Swears & gives up.

Can we talk about this? I'm with EDF but I'm sure others are similar. Yes, gas has got more expensive (Putin?) but why has the daily standing charge for electricity gone up so much? Most days, even WFH, I spend more in standing charge now than I do in electricity used.

I see all these posts from people saying they've switched from X to here and rapidly gained vast numbers of followers. It's true! I've been here 2 (3?) weeks and I'm almost at 20 already!
