Going live with @Luke_Spinman momentarily to break down a valiant effort from the Wolves in L.A., where they fall to the Lakers, who got 77 points from LeBron/Luka/Reaves. Come join us on the @LockedOnMIN YouTube ⤵️ www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIk1...

Lakers have now taken 42 free throws, a new season-high for a Wolves opponent. Previous high was 39 by the Raptors back on November 21.

Lakers are 13/23 (56.5%) from the free throw line in the second half Just as big of a reason why the Wolves are in this as anything else

Lakers came into this game 6th in the league in fastbreak PPG differential (+6.0) over their last 5 games. Wolves are +15 in that area tonight, up 22-7. TJ Shannon is outscoring L.A. 8-7 by himself.

Wolves have to keep the pedal down as LeBron heads for his usual rest out of this timeout.

Career-high 21 points on 12 shots for TJ Shannon, who has put the Wolves on his back since Anthony Edwards was ejected. Playing at a completely different speed than everyone else. His teammates are seeking him out after every stop for a one-man fast break.

End 3Q: Lakers 84, Wolves 73 Ant ejected in 3Q after second tech LeBron: 27 pts, 11 reb, 4 ast Luka: 13 pts, 9 reb, 5 ast, 0/7 3PT Reaves: 17 pts Ant: 18 pts, 6 reb, 5 ast NAW/TJ: 13 pts each DDV: 6 pts, 3 reb, 3 ast MIN: • 10/35 3PT (28.6%) • Up 35-17 in bench PTS

After the Lakers sagged off Jaden McDaniels in the corner/slots the whole first half, Chris Finch has the Wolves running more PnR with Mike Conley at the controls and McDaniels setting the screens in the Rudy Gobert role. Still not much spacing, but better movement in the HC.

The Wolves took 11 corner 3s in the 1H -- 27.5% of their total field goal attempts. That's a good number for a game, let alone a half. It's more than double PHX (12.7% C3 rate) who leads the NBA. Jaden and NAW were a combined 0/7. Killed the offense in the 1H.

HT: Lakers 58, Wolves 47 LeBron: 19 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast Luka: 13 pts, 7 reb, 4 ast, 0/5 3PT Reaves: 9 pts Ant: 13 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast Shannon: 9 pts, 2 reb Naz/Clark: 3 fls each Conley: 6 pts, 3 ast MIN: • 7/25 3PT (28%) • Down 26-16 in paint • 7 OREB, 6 2C PTS allowed

Wolves look like a team that have been chilling in LA for the last 3 days

Anthony Edwards just picked up his 15th technical foul, the most in the NBA. His next tech will earn him a one-game suspension. Every other technical after that (18, 20, 22, etc). will get him an additional one-game suspension.

End 1Q: Lakers 33, Wolves 17 Luka: 11 pts, 5 reb, 4 ast LeBron: 10 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast Reaves: 3 pts, 3 reb Ant: 4 pts, 3 reb DDV/Conley: 3 pts, 1 ast each MIN: • 3/14 3PT (21.4%) | 3/6 2PT • Down 18-4 in paint, 6-0 in 2C PTS • 7 PTS off 6 LAL TOs • 4 TOs -> 0 LAL PTS

Wolves are down 10-0 in paint points and have already allowed 3 offensive rebounds for 4 second chance points. Wolves will have to pull ahead in the OREB battle and win on the 3-point line if they can't keep LA out of the paint.

Going live momentarily with my man Luke Inman over on the Locked on Minnesota YouTube channel to break down an all-time Wolves win over the Thunder in OKC after trailing by as many as 25. Come join us to talk Jaden, TJ, Rob, Naz, Ant and more: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMGf...

Wolves' half-court defense against the Thunder, per Synergy: Last night: • ZONE: 106.9 DRTG in 29 possessions • MAN: 115.0 DRTG in 60 poss. Tonight: • ZONE: 83.3 DRTG in 30 poss. • MAN: 102.8 DRTG in 72 poss. Jaden and NAW were all over Shai at the top of that 2-3 zone.

The Wolves play the Lakers in L.A. on Thursday, then have 7 games in a row they will undoubtedly be favored in before a pair of tough matchups with Denver and Orlando. March is the month to make the run. Big opportunity ahead in the coming weeks.

Chris Finch deserves so much credit for the way he kept searching for lineup combinations that worked, pivoted to a zone, and then rewarded Rob and TJ for playing their tails off in the 3Q. Rob/NAW/TSJ/Jaden/Naz lineup that went zone: • Won 18-8 • 53.3 DRTG Big time

Anthony Edwards on his block of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: "That took everything out of me. What’s crazy, is I don’t even think I jumped that high. That’s what was crazy. When I blocked it I was definitely talking a lot of trash, for sure."

Record when shooting less than 30% from 3 against the Oklahoma City Thunder: 28 other NBA teams: 0-18 Minnesota Timberwolves: 2-0

End 1Q: Thunder 32, Wolves 28 SGA: 11 pts on 3/4 FG, 4/4 FT Jal. Williams: 7 pts, 1 ast Jaden: 9 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast Ant: 5 pts on 2/6 FG, 3 reb Naz: 2 pts, 3 reb, 2 fls TJ: 4 pts, 2 reb, 1 ast MIN: • 4 OREB -> 8 2C PTS • 4 TOs -> just 1 OKC point • Down 5-0 in FB PTS

Going live in a couple with Luke Inman to break down a valiant, very shorthanded Wolves loss to the Thunder. Come join us on the Locked on Minnesota YouTube channel while you wind down for the night, as we talk Jaylen Clark, Naz Reid, and more: www.youtube.com/watch?v=80gW...

Great play from Rob Dillingham. Had an open 3, but fed it to NAW, who knocked down his third 3 in a row. Good unselfish play from the rookie in a key moment

Successful challenge from Jeff Newton and Nate Bubes. Wolves can build on this 2-point lead

The Wolves say Jaylen Clark (neck pain) is OUT for the rest of tonight's game.

End 3Q: Thunder 103, Wolves 96 SGA: 31 pts, 4 stocks Holmgren: 16 pts, 2 blk Wiggins: 15 pts, 4/4 3PT Ant: 23 pts, 7 reb, 7 ast Naz: 19 pts, 10 reb, 3 blk Jaden: 15 pts, 9 reb Jaylen: 14 pts, 4 stl, left in 3Q (head) MIN: • 13 OREB -> 23 2C PTS • 61% FG allowed

Alex Rodriguez is heading back to check on Clark as well.

Jaylen Clark is down underneath the Thunder basket after that layup attempt. Looks like he hit his head pretty really hard on the ground. The training staff is accompanying him back to the locker room.

Scheduled tweet: Anthony Edwards just picked up his league-leading 14th technical foul. He's just two away from a 1-game suspension. The 3-time All-Star has to find other ways of getting out his frustration than picking up techs. Way too valuable to this team to miss games.

Heck of a second quarter for the Naz Reid/Jaylen Clark/Anthony Edwards trio A combined 27 points on 8/15 FG (4/7 3PT, 7/8 FT), 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 0 turnovers, 2 steals and 3 blocks. Outscored OKC 27-26 by themselves.

HT: Wolves 63, Thunder 61 MIN ends 2Q on 30-9 run over final 7:16 Naz: 16 pts, 8 reb, 3 blk Ant: 10 pts on 3/11 FG Jaden/Jaylen: 9 pts each SGA: 15 pts Holmgren: 10 pts (all in 1Q) Williams: 11 pts, 4 ast MIN: • 11 PTS off 8 OKC TOs • 10 OREB -> 15 2C PTS • 14/15 FT

BANG Anthony Edwards gets on the board from deep and Mark Daigneault needs another timeout. Wolves back within 2, 54-52, after trailing by as many as 19. Now a 19-2 Wolves run over the past 4:43.

Naz took a few extra seconds on the ground there, presumably pondering why he doesn't get the same whistles as Shai

Crucial 10-2 run from the Wolves to cut the deficit from 19 to 11 midway through the 2Q. Naz has scored or assisted on 8 of the 10, embodying the 0.5 mentality Finch loves. Wolves have made their last two 3s after starting 2/13.

Nickeil has been making some A+ passes in this second quarter. Creating some great looks for teammates that just aren't dropping right now

OKC is playing a lot of matchup 2-3 zone against these Wolves lineups, daring them to shoot 3s. Wolves are complying. Just 1/10 to start. Brutal

End 1Q: Thunder 35, Wolves 23 SGA: 11 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast Holmgren: 10 pts on 4/4 FG Jaden: 4 pts, 4 reb Ant: 2 pts on 1/7 FG (0/4 3PT), 2 fls Reid: 4 pts, 2 reb MIN: • 6 PTS off 5 OKC TOs • 5 OREB -> 6 2C PTS • 1/9 3PT (11.1%) • Allowed OKC to shoot 10/12 on 2s

Ant just gave the ref two thumbs down after that foul call 😂😂 I have no idea what he was doing wrapping Wiggins up there

Dillingham has made too many soft passes thus far that have either been stolen or should've been stolen. Not great considering Finch has not been giving the rookie much leeway to play through mistakes.

Wolves came into this game shooting just 28.2% from 3 over their last five games -- 3rd-worst in the NBA. Those struggles are continuing tonight. Minnesota just 1/9 from 3 in the first 10 minutes. A far cry from their 37.6% season-long mark, 4th-best in the NBA.

Jaden McDaniels is playing the 5 in a lineup with Dillingham, NAW, Edwards, and Shannon Jr. OKC is even smaller with 6-foot-6 Kenrich Williams playing center right now.

Chris Finch calls for time as OKC has built a 10-point lead through a 21-4 run. Wolves have had no answer for SGA on the drive since Jaylen Clark went to the bench at the 5:59 mark. It's been 11-2 Thunder in the 2:29 since then.

The Wolves are playing through Naz Reid in the mid-post at a much higher rate than they usually do. OKC has been committing two to him and he's been making good reads and passes. Like the process if he's gonna be guarded by Dort or Williams.

Jaylen Clark is EVERYWHERE defensively. One hell of an effort there to create an early highlight dunk for Naz Reid in transition, prompting an OKC timeout. Clark already has two steals, both resulting in Wolves fast break scores. 11-5 Wolves early

Jaylen Clark will start instead of Nickeil Alexander-Walker tonight, as Chris Finch hopes Clark can repeat his performance defending Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The former national DPOY held SGA to 1/7 shooting in last Thursday's win over OKC. SGA shot just 6/21 (5/19 from 2).

In the last 4 games, the Wolves have shot 45-168 (26.7%) from 3. Not the only issue, but poor shooting has cost them tonight and against the Bucks before the break.

Going live momentarily with my man Luke Inman to break down an entertaining battle in Houston, where the Wolves' late-game offense hamstrung them, leading to a loss to the Rockets. Come join us on the Locked on Minnesota YouTube channel for a little venting: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JOM...

I'd get it if Conley is handling the ball. But he's just standing in the corner. Why is he in the game to stand in the corner?!

I am not quite sure what Chris Finch has seen tonight to inspire confidence that Mike Conley should close this game with Amen Thompson out there. We'll see how it works out for him
