“Economic Boycott” lol I’m so broke I never buy anything anyway.

For some reason whenever I take a long break from songwriting, my first song back always sounds like something I would have written in high school, which in my case, is like if Green Day and Incubus collaborated on a stripped down acoustic album.

Me: Who wrote the music for Star Wars? Student: John Adams!

Today’s Comicazi haul! Lots of comics I’m excited to dive into this week.

The part of George Orwell’s 1984 that everyone forgets is how the music and publishing industries have been replaced by a machine that spits out songs and bad novels “without any human intervention.” The goal is to keep you from ever having to think.

Tomorrow night! (Sat Feb 1 - 7:00pm) I am excited to return to The Armory in Somerville for Somerville Songwriter Sessions! Bailey Harris and Talia Rose will be playing as well so it will be a great night of music you won’t want to miss. See you there!

“Care for your neighbors—not only care for your neighbors but care for the stranger. I mean, this is pretty basic spiritual practice.” I am obsessed. www.newyorker.com/news/the-new...

I left the church decades ago because of the constant bigoted ideas I was told to believe in. If this lady ran my hometown church I might still be a Christian.

New Show Alert! I’ll be sharing the stage with Bailey Harris and Talia Rose on Saturday Feb 1st at 7pm at Arts at the Armory in Somerville MA (the cafe, not the big room). This is part of the Somerville Songwriters Sessions series - $15 admission and free on-site parking. See you there!

I made a top twenty list of albums that turn 60 this year and was going to do a whole post-an-album-a-day thing but I don’t seem to have the attention span for that. So here is my top 20 albums from 1965 (alphabetically by artist)

Hey America. Just saying.

Apparently today is “forget the lyrics to every Beatles song I’ve played a million times” day at the gig 🤦🏻‍♂️

I had a new student today tell me I was giving Jack Black from School of Rock vibes. I can’t express enough how this is the highest possible praise.

Mister Rogers never misses

The other day I saw an ad on the T that was clearly made using AI generated images, and then later I found myself driving behind a cybertruck, and it really hit me how much ugliness we are forced to look at on a daily basis now.

It’s the hypocrisy every time.

People Who Use AI Images for Anything: Dogshit, not worth listening to, absolute malarkey, nothing you say is valid and you will never find love People Who Make Shitty Photoshops: Remarkable, respected individuals to be taken seriously, absolute Chad behavior, They fuck and everyone fucks with them

Wrote a bit about my favorite music that came out this year over on my Substack. What was on your list this year? #music #aoty #aoty2024 open.substack.com/pub/jackbyrn...

It’s Bandcamp Friday! Great day to remind you that I have a new single out, exclusively on Bandcamp. jackbyrne.bandcamp.com/album/dreams...

I still think Apple Music Replay is fun, but long albums always get preference by their metrics. Like I listened to Blonde on Blonde once this year and it was considered one of my top albums. Great record, don’t get me wrong, but surely minutes shouldn’t be how we gauge that.

Finally got around to making a playlist of original songs of mine on YouTube. Check it out here! www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

New songs on Bandcamp! Show coming up on 2/1! My latest Substack update - subscribe if you want to stay updated on what I am doing musically. substack.com/home/post/p-...
