Washington Post subscription regrettably cancelled. Democracy dies in whitewash.

www.nytimes.com/live/2025/02... This was just gross. Especially the way Vance lectured like a teacher berating a misbehaving child. It’s all pretext anyway for giving up Ukraine. Anyone could “make a deal” and “stop the war” if that just means handing over Ukraine to Russia.

That’s pretty unequivocal. Even does the nod and smile afterwards, like “yeah that’s right”. Stop pretending these are not Nazi salutes! youtu.be/cTDMHv0IXt8?...

This is a post on X from the (new) White House account

New York Times critics: check out today’s headlines.

I know there have always been people who complain that the world is moving and changing too fast, but those people were all wrong and pathetic, whereas now, I feel suddenly that the world really is moving and changing too fast, and I’m sure I’m right. Complete coincidence that I’m getting older.

It’s not that no one else COULD, Marco Rubio. No one else WOULD. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/18/w...

This is frankly awesome. I won’t comment on WFH/office (or the unfair blame on Gen Z), but documentation and comms in corporate life have become unwieldy, ironically partly due to more systematisation producing more ‘data’, so… I welcome whatever comes out of this. www.theage.com.au/business/com...

Example of the unseen love labour done by women: I always fold my family’s t-shirts so that logos (or paint splatters in husbands case) are on the outside so that they don’t have to unfold a T-shirt to know which one it is. Work that people don’t even notice but has an impact nonetheless!

Not personally convinced that every service provider should be making reels/TikToks, tbh www.instagram.com/reel/DFwM7Vq...

Sam Kerr found not guilty: good! Rules are rules but come on. Case should never have gone to court. Cops are supposed to de-escalate these situations. And you look like a giant baby for complaining about racism if you’re white.

I want to read every single story that’s in the headlines and I also don’t want to read any of them. Exhausting times.

About to re-watch one of the greatest movies ever made: Madagascar 2

Shows how much recreational cars have grown in size since the 80s.

No anti vaxxer EVER admits to being anti vaccines. They just pretend they want never ending trials and the kind of spotless 100% results that don’t exist in science, nature or any form of reality.

American science and medicine has been thrown into chaos and uncertainty over the past week. Here are some stories to get up to speed. 1/12

I did 12 laps in a small pool today followed by twenty minutes leisurely but steady treading water and this felt like a good amount of exercise for the first day of a holiday. More walking and swimming tomorrow. 👍🏻😎

Not saying a lab leak couldn’t lead to a pandemic, but isn’t it far less likely than the animal-to-human vector that has caused every other major outbreak??

It’s snowing in Florida?!

Should we… go back?

I am always so embarrassed getting a pedicure, I feel like Shrek.

“A civilian or politician cannot control a news outlet’s posts, but they can bleed them dry for cash and instill a censorious caution that delegitimizes the industry and creates distrust amongst readers.” - Lindsey Adler

This may be a very specific feeling, but is there any nicer feeling than lying in bed under a light blanket listening to tennis while it’s still light outside and your family cleans up after dinner they made after you worked all day following 5 hours of sleep last night after a night at the tennis?

Fact checking doesn’t work anyway. Community notes isn’t perfect but it’s the same principle as Wikipedia, which works quite well most of the time, and that’s the best we can expect. I think. Idk.

Trump is appalling. However: In a modern democracy it is NOT the norm to jail presidents and prime ministers. Imagine if it was?! Civilian criminals get jail. Elected criminals get political sanctions. I mean, sure, Trump is getting neither. But stop demanding jail time, that’s unrealistic and dumb.

This is false:

Jimmy Carter was an unlucky and maybe ineffective president, but no one has done post-presidency better. A truly great man. #jimmycarter

Ohhhh, so honey orange chicken is a 1970s cringe meal, but “maple glazed chicken” with orange slices is cool. Ok then.

I’ve never understood the argument against daylight saving from people who seem to think that the sun rises and sets at the same time throughout the year. You don’t think there’s a reason that daylight saving exists? (Screenshots from Washington Post)

This is fascinating. I can totally see how this might become a normal thing. Travel gets cheaper while cost of living in our cities gets higher. '8,800km commute': Chinese student travels to Australia weekly to attend university www.sbs.com.au/news/article...

Shoutout to the experts who appear on podcasts and don’t respond with “Yeah that’s what I just said” when the host tries to add to their commentary with “And also…” and then repackages what they just said. 😖
