The root that tears apart your foundation begins as a seed of distrust, hate, and blame. The seed that grew into a dictatorship in Europe didn’t arrive overnight. It started with everyday Germans mad about inflation and looking for someone to blame.

Eugenics in action. USA: "So many Americans died from COVID, it’s boosting Social Security to the tune of $205 billion." "New research finds Social Security will pay out $205 billion less in future benefits due to Covid-related premature deaths." Source: archive.md/GVwox

SCOOP: On his second day as HHS secretary, RFK Jr., the onetime environmentalist, killed climate change programs at NIH that research and prepare for the health effects of extreme weather and a warming planet. This is not going to make Americans healthy. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

DOGE recommended firing workers at: -FDA, which oversees Neuralink -FAA, which oversees SpaceX -USAID, which probed Starlink -CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X. "Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

brief article talking about Gen Z, the outcome of the 2024 presidential election, and why we need to put political exhaustion behind us 🗳️ #genz #politics #article

So many people talking about community today and most of them don't even mask. I don't know how to get that through to people. You need to protect the most vulnerable in your community, as well as yourselves. That means including disabled people Covid and now bird flu are a threat to everyone

Wrote a brief piece for Necessary Behavior about outbreak updates as we enter our fifth year of the COVID-19 pandemic 😷🦠 #COVID-19 #covidcautious #CovidIsntOver #WearAMask

Prior to Covid it was normal to mask in the NICU. People understood that premature babies are as vulnerable as they come and need to protected. Now? Gowns & gloves but no masking. The damage caused by anti mask rhetoric will be felt for years (possibly decades) to come.

When I hear Trump say “merit based”… I fear for the disability community. “people with disabilities, co-morbids, the elderly and infirm deserve to live too. Read that again if you have to because I want this message to sink in. No one is expendable. We all have value”

Sound familiar? "During the emergence of AIDS in the 1980’s, public health authorities minimized the disease. News outlets reassured the public that having a “strong immune system” would prevent and stop HIV infection. We now know that is not the case." #CovidIsntOver #MaskUp

The amount of gaslighting that’s going to occur over the next few weeks in an effort to convince you that we aren’t seeing the rise of fascism and white supremacy will be considerable. Be gentle with yourself. Stand firm. Don’t allow others to make you question what you know to be true.

JUST IN: Another team of Mexican firefighters has landed in LA to help combat the wildfires. Thank you, Mexico 🇲🇽🇺🇸

I read a post earlier from a doctor who was explaining how they saved a life by truly listening to their patient. The problem? They listened because the patient was a young, fit, cishet white man. They described him as “strong”, a father & employed … so they took him more seriously. 🧵

I had polio when i was 9. I was taken from my parents & placed in a Hospital for contageous diseases- the polio ward. I would see them once a week - thru the glass window at the end of my ward. I could not walk. It was terrifying. Kids died. Iron lungs were awful. Dont let RFK Jr ban the vaccine

Holy hell. RFK Jr’s team has been gunning to pull the polio vaccine. He really is trying to #MakeIronLungsGreatAgain. Gift 🎁 link: www.nytimes.com/2024/12/13/h...

When money is the only thing you care about, art and people become little more than obstacles to surmount in order to obtain more of it.

On International Persons with Disabilities Day - I urge people to remember the role that privilege and financial circumstances play in someone’s ability to survive and thrive. Just like Covid caution requires a degree of financial security - disability is expensive. 🧵/1

I frequently meet illustrators who say, I’m a visual person, I have ADHD, I’ve never been a reader, and I never will be, it’s not for me. FWIW I’m a visual person with ADHD who didn’t self-identify as a reader who now reads voraciously. Here’s a short 🧵 on why and how… 1/7

“Inadequate protection at work” Yes. We need to treat COVID as a workplace health and safety issue.

Just because a bunch of professors at Stanford say COVID’s no big deal doesn’t make it true. You know this. You know someone who’s died from covid. You know someone with long covid. You’ve probably had covid several times yourself. They are spreading misinformation because it fits their ideology.

I’m stunned that an act as simple as wearing a mask in public was a deal breaker for so many. You weren’t required to permanently affix it to your face. It could have been as easy as wearing pants & shoes. Instead people decided it was an egregious violation of freedom - and we all suffer.

It’s not “wear a mask or don’t wear a mask” it’s “wear a mask or risk long term health” We’ve learned so much about COVID in last 5 years & anyone paying attention is trying hard to avoid it Yet we can’t even get simple things like masks in healthcare. We’re making it easy for the virus to win

Y'all know that the website where you type in your BlueSky handle and it generates a funny, complimentary description of your account is all AI/LLM stuff, right? I've seen folks who have an otherwise strong anti-AI stance use it, and I just want to make sure that people are aware.

Most people stopped worrying about Covid the moment they were told it was only a threat to the vulnerable Many of those same folks are now telling the “vulnerable” not to worry about assisted death programs You threw us to the wayside the minute you could - we’re right to worry.

This morning’s new listings on CovidAware.com: 📌 Hair salons in the Bay Area that will mask; some will work outdoors. 📌 A masks-required barber in Brooklyn. 📌 A physical therapist in Chicago who will wear an N95 if provided. HEPA purifiers and low CO2, too! #CovidAware #CovidIsNotOver

banned books make great holiday gifts.

During Hurricane Katrina - disabled patients were left to die and/or euthanized. We are left behind during natural disasters AND pandemics. There’s never sufficient public outcry - because too many see us as “better off dead.” Which is WHY we fear assisted dying policies.

Masks in hospitals save lives. When masking is dropped - they saw a 25% jump in hospital acquired viral infections. When reinstated? A 33% decrease. It’s almost as though masking should be mandatory and permanent in hospital settings. www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdi...

Artificial intelligence is not. We need a better term for what's being shoved in our faces. I'm open to suggestions.

I love saying the word exacerbate like I know what the fuck fancy words are. I’ll toss that into anything. Don’t exacerbate that sandwich by putting on too much mustard. What are you gonna do? Challenge me, the man who used the fancy word?

do you also sometimes dream of being semi-rich just so that you can donate to, commission or shop from every artist you see online

The "Just Asking Questions"/"Just Having A Conversation"/"I'm Cancelled For Just Wanting To Talk" crowd is always so short on specifics. They love to talk in innuendo, but when it comes down to what specific rights they are OK with tossing aside, they clam up. They also use the worst framing.

1. This weekend, Representative Adam Bird in Ohio, when asked about the new trans bathroom ban on CNN, said that transgender youth will be "less of an issue" in the state after banning their care. The implication is chilling. Subscribe to support my journalism.

Subtitles aren’t just for deaf or hard of hearing players. They’re important for players in loud environments (who can’t use headphones), non-native speakers who rely on text to follow dialogue, and many neurodivergent folks who struggle to focus or process audio quickly. Just to mention few.

Sounds like something to avoid. “The long-term neurological effects include ‘accelerated brain ageing, potentially leading to a loss of five to 10 years of healthy brain function in affected individuals.’” www.ndtv.com/world-news/c...

I agree. In fact I would say it's GUARANTEED that RFK Jr will cost lives. Not a few lives. Many lives. Population health is sheer math with large numbers involved and if you disrupt the best evidence-based responses, you cause preventable illnesses and deaths. Simple as that.
