I just saw a headline that said “Dems Down Trump Up in New Poll.” Why does it have to be one or the other? How are these questions being asked? They should all be down in the polls.

An audiobook thing that really irks me is when the narrator sounds obviously much older than the MC they’re reading for. Uck. I just can’t picture the character properly when that’s the case.

Why are .gov sites showing up in my Google “news” search feed? I swear that’s new. I don’t like it.

I agree with what I said yesterday that there was no winning in this funding bill situation. So I think the best the dems could have done was stand for something. Enough of them caved and rolled over. I hope they get primaried so hard. We need leaders, not line toe-ers.

It was rainy with thick cloud coverage here last night, so no blood moon for me.

The real choice Democrats face is not between a continuing resolution that allows the government to function normally or a government shutdown. Under the Trump regime, the government is not functioning normally. It is already shutting down. Why vote to legitimize Trump's coup?

I do recall that Trump was proud to have caused the longest government shut down in history during his first term. He was probably hoping to break his own record. There are no winners in politics and the biggest losers are us, the people the government is meant to serve.

Ugh. I just read an opinion piece that points out that Musk and Trump would love a government shut down, especially one they can blame on Dems. So I guess if they vote for this, at least the government keeps going and any pain to regular people are the fault of the Republicans. God I hate politics.

The Dems need to grow a pair or get out of the way.

I hope everyone is having a great day! Except for you, Andrew Wakefield. I hope you have the day you deserve.

My senators have stated they won’t vote for this terrible spending bill that would create massive cuts to Medicaid and SNAP benefits. I hope the rest of the Democrats can show some spine too.

CDC & NIH used to be reliable sources of scientific health information. And they probably still are to some degree, but the fact that many of their websites and data sites were taken offline and fucked with last month makes them seem sus, and that’s unfortunate. RFK’s influence also makes me weary.

Mark Carney just called us “a country we can no longer trust.” I agree sir.

In this time of acrimony and discord, I've decided to rise above it all and be the bigger person. Once I am physically larger than my enemies, I shall simply eat them

Looking up instances of societies where fascism was on the rise, but they did not succumb to it. I don’t have time to look into them in depth right now, but just the fact that I’m finding a lot of examples is making me feel more optimistic.

It just took me 53 minutes on the phone to schedule an appointment with our pediatrician who has a minimum of a 3 month wait for an appointment. But tell me again how a single payer healthcare system has long wait times.

Remember how Jimmy Carter how to get rid of his little peanut farm to be president because it was a conflict of interest? And now we have a president doing car ads for the richest man on earth. Oh, how far we’ve fallen.

It so weird to be keeping up with the threats to our democracy, while also maintaining daily needs, and still having aspirations for the future. What a mental and emotional juggling act. But then again, when I take the time to think about it, I’m always impressed by human resiliency.

Sorry Mr. Trump, consumers deciding where to spend our money isn’t illegal. Similarly, ignoring court orders doesn’t make something legal. I know as a felon, you’re a DEI hire, but we really should’ve made sure you were better qualified. I mean, the president should know how the legal system works.

How is it that 2015 was just a few months ago but also a million years ago?

I solved a coding problem today after struggling with it for hours yesterday. I was so excited I ran around my living room literally jumping for joy—and almost fell backward over my couch. Anyway, happy Sunday!

Time changes are stupid. Time is a construct.

Trump discussing the numbers of people in the social security database leads me to believe he doesn’t understand record keeping. Then I remembered his idea of record keeping is keeping top secret government records he’s no longer authorized to have.

Hey remember when John Kerry lost the presidential election because he “flip-flopped” on an issue? Yeah so, unrelated, Trump changed course on tariffs again, which is great news for consumers.

British PM Starmer hugged Zelenskyy. That’s how bad U.S. foreign policy has gotten—it’s driving the Brits to physical displays of emotion.

Dems look like they're bidding on fascism at a silent auction

It’s wild that White House dot Gov has become a tabloid publication.

I think Trump making a big deal about the Canadian border is less about keeping migrants out and more about keeping Americans in.

Looking back on my past, it’s easy to want to blame not doing things I wanted to do on relationships I was in, but truth be told, it was the fault of poverty. Poverty removes options. It’s hard to do anything when you have few/no resources.

I just saw a YouTuber talking about how loneliness in young men makes them susceptible to far right ideology. I would like to suggest that perhaps it goes the other way, that far right ideology leads to loneliness.

Oh good, let’s move on from the Ukraine debacle by talking about who Trump says Biden said in a “private conversation” is to blame for dems losing. That sounds important. The 24-hour news cycle is really grasping at straws here.

seen on fbook this morning.

It’s telling that some of the stuff that’s going on politically is too unhinged for even Fox News to report on positively.

Am I the only one who thinks the changes to Kindle book purchasing rules is Amazon gearing up to more easily take away future banned books from readers? I’m happy to be a Kobo user.

Haha

Such a handsome kitty

“There is nothing so American as our national parks.” -Franklin D. Roosevelt

Measles was once considered eradicated from the United States because widespread vaccinations work. When I was growing up, measles was something we only learned about in history books.

When companies ask you to fill out surveys about your experience, they are asking you to do work for them for free. Don’t do it unless you’re getting some sort of compensation.

I’m feeling hopeful today thanks to some things I’ve seen regarding the opposition to our current government direction/disinformation. Not all is lost.

“Malign foreign actors?” Right. Elon Musk, for example. www.nbcnews.com/politics/dog...

I felt like justifying my existence, so here is my “what I did last week” email for hr@opm.gov. It was nice, like bullet-journaling. I’m glad we had this talk. Let’s do it again next week.

Elon, if you don’t know what government employees do, it’s okay, you can just say you don’t know. But also, we should expand our billionaire recruitment criteria. If we consider a more diverse group for our oligarchy, perhaps we can find one that’s already qualified and forgo the extra training.

I love that we have National Parks and if we fail to protect them, they will soon be gone.

This too shall pass but probably like in a kidney stone kinda way so idk
