Science as we know it in America is now dead. This is not to say that it is dead completely, but it is undergoing plastic surgery via sledge hammer and rotary saw.

Amazing in just a few short years the U.S. went from “Change you can believe in.” to “Believe me, there will be change!”

U.S. spending is dominated by Medicare, Social Security, Debt Payments, and the military. Attacking science funding is like stomping ants to solve your elephant problem

I don’t understand people who can sit and watch a talk but don’t have a million questions at the end of it. Like I have to constantly restrain myself from overwhelming people with questions.

This week during Materials Science & Engineering - University of Toronto Advanced #artificialintelligence for #materialsscience we are welcoming Boston University's own Keith Brown to talk to us about #selfdriving 🐻's. Acceleration Consortium Zoom: Meeting ID: 312 164 7451 Passcode: 944562

Annual report time from my mentees. My love of dead trees and disdain for PDFs are both well summarized in this image.

Recently introduced my students to what happens to model feature importances when you either: (1) change the threshold for dropping correlated features, (2) change the random seed (3) make minor changes to the hyperparameters Their looks of absolute horror are really the reason that we do what we do

Seems like the science has moved here? …Again? For reals this time? @aspuru.bsky.social @hojo90.bsky.social
