The USA reminds me of Israel on the eve of October 7.

I've been trying to think of an historical parallel: a country at the height of its power thinking: "well, time to shoot ourselves in the head"

More violence is the point. But Lindsey knows that. www.mediaite.com/news/lindsey...

I really don't have a lot of sympathy for the people who voted for Trump, but are shocked that he'd do what he always said he would do and release the dudes who attacked capitol police officers

Punk as fuck

Four years, my man. We're staying with this shit for four years youtu.be/WSc8vB3GqkA?...

The future of the movie business is a set of octagenarians.

Fascinating how open the corruption is. We certainly are not our ancestors www.politico.com/live-updates...

Reason for optimism. www.progresspond.com/2025/01/05/t...

Nice use of the passive voice. I wonder who signed that bill? It's a mystery. (I somehow ended up on a mailing for van Orden under my ex's name)

All the bullshit about free speech is out the window when the right is in charge anntelnaes.substack.com/p/why-im-qui...

Blowing yourself up along with your brands is a hell of an indictment of the shallowness of your own politics.

I don't doubt that the cybertruck has some amazing tech, but I prefer that my vehicles be a little safer, ya know? Never driven one, but the vehicle is probably a step forward regardless of Musk.

Rod Dreher is nothing if not consistent in describing mundane difficulties and conflicts as world-historical existential crises. I read the dude's newsletter and today's is especially funny

I'm really waiting for one of these guys to slip up and call them deplorable

Bro, do you know which political movement you signed on with? What the hell... www.axios.com/2024/12/27/e...

I understand this sentiment. I'm certain millions of us on bsky do. Yet, I don't believe that joy has been defeated, nor that it will be long-term. I believe in our power and the rightness of our cause. I think coming months will see many victories for us/ours. Even if more than just joy fuels us.

"We are old and tired and just want to be taken care of, and Trump has too much common sense, so I don’t think he is going to do anything to hurt us.” I have no doubt that Republicans want to do things that'll hurt the poor. Might there be ways for Republicans to first harm their political enemies?

Question that might benefit others too: is there still membership at the progress pond? Has that all moved to Patreon or are these separate charges? @booman23.bsky.social
