For some reason my post from months ago is shooting back up into Bsky feeds. I ❤️ that #oVertTCN is giving a people a little twinkle of joy right now. Being part of it is one of my proudest accomplishments. Some more info (PLZ watch the video): www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/science/scie...

Feel like we need some ❤️ today so here are some close ups of the 🫀hearts🫀 from the Diffusion Diaries (read it here: doi.org/10.1093/iob/...) 1. 🦇 Schneider's leaf nosed bat 2. 🐟 bowfin 3. 🐸 midwife toad 4. 🦎 collared lizard

IOB- The Diffusion Diaries: "Diffusible iodine-based contrast-enhanced CT (#diceCT) is commonly used to create three-dimensional (#3D) rep- resentations of the soft tissue #anatomy of preserved #vertebrate specimens." @jaimiagray.bsky.social et al doi.org/10.1093/iob/... #morphology #taxonomy

IOB fresh ink this week! @jaimiagray.bsky.social et al's The Diffusion Diaries: Diffusible Iodine-Based Contrast-Enhanced Computed #Tomography for #Vertebrate Natural History #Specimens Gray, Sheehy, Blackburn et al doi.org/10.1093/iob/... & see www.graysvertebrateanatomy.com/about/

🚨New publication alert!🚨 A big one! It might just be my *biggest* one: doi.org/10.1093/iob/... IMPORTANT THREAD! From the moment Dave Blackburn set me loose at the Florida Museum, I had a marvelous time using diffusible iodine-based contrast-enhanced CT (diceCT) to create anatomical datasets 🧪1/6

Hey it's international bat appreciation day 🦇 Here's a rendering of a skeleton of a Daubenton's free tailed bat I scanned for #oVertTCN. This AMNH specimen was collected in the Congo in 1910! This poor girl has quite a few broken bones 😢 See if you can spot them www.morphosource.org/media/000519...

When I CT scanned this diamondback rattlesnake specimen, I found a surprise rodent inside 🐍🐁 The #oVertTCN CT data is available for download on MorphoSource here: www.morphosource.org/concern/medi...

Every year UTCT teaches NSF sponsored short courses on high-resolution X-ray CT, taught by UTCT staff (including me!). Applications for the 2025 courses are now open! See below for the biological/paleontological course info, & we also have a geological one. If you'd like to apply, send me a DM 🩻☢️🦴

Attending ToScA in New York this year? I'm teaching a 3D Slicer workshop on day 1! Places limited so if you want a spot: run, don't walk to ToScA's registration page 🏃‍♀️ If 3DSlicer isn't for you, there are sessions for other segmentation/recon software www.toscainternational.org/toscana25/wo...

Happy 💕International Day of Girls and Women in Science💕 I'd like to highlight a couple of the women who inspire me! See thread ⬇️

Lovely #oVertTCN spread of critters in the yearbook issue of Science Illustrated Denmark featuring "the biggest news of the year in the world of research" with images by Zach Randall, @nagesanr.bsky.social and me! ‼️this work was funded by NSF‼️

Hi new followers! If you followed me for CT images, you must be into that kind of thing! Here are some more people using CT to do their science (follow them!) 💃 & if you're a Tomography devotee like me, there's still spots left in the starter pack, LMK if you want to be added. go.bsky.app/VjBpAAy

We CT scanned thousands of vertebrates from US natural history collections and made them freely available. Countless people have used the data for research (>200 pubs) and to learn anatomy/morphology. www.morphosource.org/projects/000...

New #ColorsOfSkullAnatomy model! 🐍GREEN ANACONDA🐍 Let's talk about power. Check out those impressive jaws. Then think about this: lady anacondas eat boys for breakfast. Literally. Female anacondas have been known to eat their smaller male counterparts. www.graysvertebrateanatomy.com/anacondaskull/

#Tomography friends! Abstract submission for ToScANA 2025 is open! We're off to New York & the American Museum of Natural History to share the latest advances in tomography applied to a wide range of subjects. Plus workshops! (learn 3D Slicer from me 💃) www.toscainternational.org/toscana25/we...

Your friendly neighborhood NoCTURNals at the FAIR and Open Science RCN Principal Investigator meeting! An inspiring few days discussing with leaders of other RCNs how to ensure our science is FAIR & Open, & how to run a successful network. Working for a bright future for scientists in our fields 🌞

It's sunny but cold here in DC ☃️ We @nocturnetwork.bsky.social are having a wonderful time chatting FAIR and Open Science with everyone! (And enjoying the very swanky Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Center which has a wonderful rooftop view💃) #goFAIRyourself

We are here in DC meeting with other PIs from our FAIROS RCN cohort, Program Officers from different agencies, and experts in data and networking, and hoping to make a real impact on the future of RCNs and Networks, and making data more #FAIR and #OpenScience

En route ✈️ to DC for the FAIR & Open Science Research Coordination Networks PI workshop! Some of my @nocturnetwork.bsky.social friends & I will be spending the next few days sharing our perspectives with leaders of other RCNs. Ready to discuss how we can work together for FAIR & Open Science!

New #MiddleSchool #Education resource! Along with @nocturnetwork.bsky.social's Education & Outreach Team, I'm proud to share this science lesson ft. #3Dmodels made from #CTscans (some from my #ForelimbHomology collection + fun new ones!) Download via QUBEShub! 🦴🐒🦅🐍🦎🐧 qubeshub.org/publications...
